B-wing is broken

By Vulf, in X-Wing

And I can't find the part that broke off.

It was the gun on the right wing, any ideas?

Mine is missing the gun on the left. Im left handed. Are you right handed? There may be a pattern.

do you have a 2nd B-Wing? You could snap a gun off that one, and glue it on to your broken one.

Isis claimed credit.

Well, since modifications are now allowed for tourney play, making the left wing battle-damaged would be a good way to cover up the missing piece. Some drilled holes, cut-out portions of the wing, and some paint would do the trick.

I have one in the middle of "modding*."

*In this case modding refers to having a B-wing with a broken gun that refuses to glue back on so I've instead snapped the other gun off, stripped it, cut the cockpit off for "gyrostabilization," magnetized the peg, and left it in a corner in a heap to be ignored for now and ever.

I have a similar problem. Someone shipped me a collection loose in a box and the B-Wing cannons were one of many casualties.

I read somewhere that someone used watch parts to replace it, and I assume they meant these spring loaded wrist band pins. That's what I was planning on using.

EDIT: I just bought this. If these seem like something you want, I will send you mixed envelope of 6 different sized sets of 2 for $1.00 when I get them (delivery in about a month).

Definitely. With TLTs everywhere and X-Wings getting better, the B-Wi-

-oh.

A good model shop will sell aluminum or brass tubing in extremely small size. Works well on model planes. Or, music wire may be easier to work in this application.

Same thing here.

Bigger problem is all my B Wing peg holes make them point slightly left....

Toothpick.

Toothpick.

Nonono it's a-wing's that are made of wood.

Right wing without guns? If only!

Excellent thread.

If you can find the old gu or a replacement, drill matching holes in both parts, insert a piece of paperclip and superglue them together.

I had a cannon snap at the halfway point. Put superglue on the tip of a toothpick and rolled it onto the broken ends. Held it together for like 20 minutes. Good as new. I have no advice for when you can't find the broken piece... not sure what you can do.

The Barrel Portion of an Imperial Guard lasgun might be the right size and fit if you're handy with modeling.

I don't collect Guard so I cannot give you a side-by-side comparison. But from what I remember from shape and size from the few glances I've had of them they might fit nicely.

Also I'd replace both wing mounts if your going to model a fix. Cause symmetry IMO is important aestheticly for the most part. My first glance at the Falcon was the same reaction as Luke's. Love the sight of it now though...

Glue a puff of cotton there, drybrush with black.

As a previous poster said - hey presto, battle damage!

Can't you scratchbuild a replacement? Might be best to cut the other off and replace both so it looks even.

A handheld pin vice and a small brass pin is the easiest. Drill a small hole into the wing, cut a length of brass rod, glue in hole.

LOL I hope that was a joke.

I've got a pin vice, but my drill is too big!

I think I'll try the plastic tubes someone suggested, because I could use them for some other modelling stuff too.
