Forgot who suggested this, but Red Squadron Veterans with Wingman and Targeting Astromech and Autothrusters/Weapons Guidance

By ParaGoomba Slayer, in X-Wing

Not my idea, so kudos to whoever came up with this.

So you fly multiples of these range 1 of each other. They can Talon Roll in formation, get a TL potentially from TA, then ditch the stress in the combat phase and do it again next turn.

They're PS 4. U-Boat insurance

Boost.

Autothrusters. Weapons Guidance for extra damage if you want.

Stupid mobility.

All for 32 points, 30 if you want Integrated Astromech. You can then pair two of these with an R2-D2 Comm Relay Integrated Astromech Red Ace.

Needs some testing against U-Boats and Palp Aces. You have the PS and the mobility for U-Boats, and you have some mobility for keeping aces in arc.

Stay On Targeting Astromech might also be interesting. Better on higher PS though. It's my go to combo for high pilot skill X-wings now. I just wish there was an easier way to destress them than their pathetic greens.

Which is why you fly two of these with Wingman.

If you have Wingman you don't have SoT though.

Really wish the X-wing had A-wing Test Pilot some days.

This sounds awful... plasma torpedoes just chew through t70's and good luck ever having shots on fel. Ps8 or bust!

I use two of these with Ello Asty. Repositioning nightmare even for an Imperial Ace. Never thought of it as a Uboat counter though. Never flew this more than a couple of times because the whole synergy falls apart with the loss of the first T-70.

You could fly three - lose one and it still works...

With R2 you have some good green options.

Looks pretty cool. Could dump the Tech and go for a plasma torpedoes and a 1 point bid. Throw on chips to make up for no deadeye, but you could shoot a torpedo off a talon roll with no stress. That could be hard to keep a formation on that move, but a K turn barrage could easily be an option.
