G1A (Mist Hunter) size?

By Managarmr, in X-Wing

In the past there was some discussion about the A-wing's size, if it is in scale.

The G1A model is quite big,

length 6.4cm, width 4.3cm, height 2.7cm.

Compare to an X-wing with

l 4.5cm, w 3.7cm, h 1.1cm.

Wookiepedia and a few other web sources say x-wing length 12.5m and G1A 15m, which is seriously off, when looking at our models.

On the other hand seems there to be a (now legends) story about Zuckuss rescuing and cramming in some 50 people from a rebel transport ( Bright Hope?), and also being able to transport a metric ton.

O

So is the wookiepedia wrong, or is FFG having serious scale issues like Lego and older GW models?

Anyone having some "facts" on the G1A?

Scale feels right given that it is one of the bounty hunter ships. Wookiepedia has been inaccurate in the past and ship sizes have been changed as well. See Hounds Tooth for that, it has been shrinked for TCW. Used to be about GR-75 size.

Bulk transportation is often done in containers (a YT-1300 can slot one in between the mandibles which is why the cockpit is off to the side).

I'd have to check the Tales of the Bounty Hunters about how they carried off the passengers.

So is the wookiepedia wrong

Wookieepedia is always wrong.

FFG gets their numbers from LFL. Where there are no clear numbers, LFL decides the canon size and gives that to FFG. That's what they did with the Hunter.

If the scale is inconsistent it's because it was inconsistent before.

Exactly this. For further examples, you only need to look as far as the HWK-290. Wookiepedia and earlier RPGs have it at 29 meters, 2 crew, 6 passengers and 150 metric tons of cargo (that combo puts a YT-1300's capacity to shame...in a shorter and FAR more narrow frame). Totally out of line with every shot ever scene of the ship in the Dark Forces games. Even the newer stats for it in FFGs RPGs (2 crew, 2 passengers and small amount of crew) seem nearly impossible to cram in that ship without jump-seats or folding bunks. Probably a little unrealistic but done so in order to let small parties use one and pretend to be Kyle Katarn...

I've always read the cargo capacity as cargo in external containers. That's how the YT's haul cargo as well.

External containers seem to be the preferred method of shipping. 100 metric tons is the equivalent of 4 20' containers after all.

Yeah, but LFL decides canon size without consulting the actual scale of the film model, hence the A-wing (and probably the Firespray as well). The Tooth's resizing didn't take into account the size of the Pup, but I'll chalk that up to the Clone Wars writers being lazy...
