Ghost & Proof of Purchase

By any2cards, in X-Wing

Not to be 'that guy', remember that being organised =/= OCD...

Anyway all my proof of purchase tokens have been binned. I don't see the point in them as they don't really 'prove' you purchased anything, and FFG have never asked for it when I've needed parts replacing etc.'

:P New FFG ruling: You must display all proof of purchase for each ship model pilot card and upgrade to verify ownership of list. FFG takes the act of piracy very seriously and Disney will send a C&D orders to all official tournament participants who fail to comply with the terms of use agreement.

Aren't you glad table top games are not run by the video game industry? ;)

I was holding out hope that someday they'd have an offer you could trade in POPs for some cool X-Wing trinket. But, I guess that isn't going to happen now, if they're not even bothering to include them any more. :{

That's how we rolled in the 80's.

Wasn't the light blue Talonbane Cobra Commander a mail-in exclusive as well? The only Talonbane Cobra Commander I remember buying in the store was the advanced battle armor version.

You may be right. My personal memory of which figure I got where is fading into the mythy mists of the past.

All I know is, after 20 years of storage at mom's house, this last Christmas she said they either went home with me or met an evil fate. So I took them home, and after 10 minutes of my 6-year-old playing with them, both Cobra Commanders were split in twain.

Finally broke down and got Rebel Aces and low and behold. A proof of purchase was in it. Woo hoo.

I was really hoping to one day be able to put a bunch of pop tokens in an envelope, lick the adhesive, buy an actual physical stamp, stick this assembled paper article into a metal drop box, and 6-8 weeks later, get an exclusive hooded Talonbane Cobra Commander with the dark blue togs...rather than the light blue helmet-wearing variant sold in stores.

The best Joe mail order pop goodie was the wind surfboard. It has a crappy camouflaged plastic sail that lasted maybe 3 or four assemblies, and broke down into a backpack. Ahhh, those halcyon days of yore.

Absolutely not a fan of more and more companies requiring apps for verification (as e.g Steam trading system). Not everyone has a Smart phone.

Is there really a reason to keep the POP token?

I have this irrational expectation that someday I can cash in all my proof of purchases for a limited edition action figure.
