How do you outfit your Servo-Skull?

By Rabidredneck, in Rogue Trader

In the description amnong the equipment and skills it gets it can have one skill at +20% and offers some a choice of one other piece of equipment (multi-tool, laspistol, etc). I can't figure out what skill I should give it.

Maybe a multitool and trade-technomat so it can assist with repairs? One of the Common Lore skills for information retrieval? What do you all commonly use?

The Explorator use it with multi tool and tech lore, he treats like a parrot that every so often it will repeat the last sentence in a staticy voice. He calls it Chi Chi.

Security and a Multikey to give me someone on the tumblers while I talk to the machine spirits.

Well I wouldn't pick Trade (Technomat), but rather choose Tech-Use if the skull is supposed to have a multitool. Otherwise, it's assistance would pretty much only apply to Trade (Technomat) tests.

Tech-Use is the usual one I opt for, though my latest Servo Skull (Agent Mulder) got the auspex and Search +20. This way my Explorator can delegate 'finding stuff' to the skull (I imagine finding obscure bits in a warehouse, misfiled books in a well catalogued physical archive etc).

I also like the name. Mulder. Get it?

One would think that "Agent Skully" would be more appropriate. lengua.gif

Though when I played an Explorator for a brief while, he called his servo skull "Roger"... As in "Jolly Roger". Because the gang didn't seem piratical enough he had to bring some slight taste of piracy to it all. gran_risa.gif

Medicae +20 and a diagnosticator (sp?) or medi-kit.

Generally I go with Medicae with a 1st aid kit as healing is generally hard early on.

I didn't say it was a PC's servitor skull. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Susanna has an auspex and tech-use +20 (for special uses of the auspex).

on a related question, what trade() skill would be used to create a servo skull?

Do note that eve a PC' servo skull could be outfitted with a weapon. Gunskulls or skulls armed with melee weapons do exist and they are described in Inquisitors Handbook for Dark Heresy (with price in thrones and everythin).

I used to have a few gunskulls armed with bolt pistols that trailed my PC, they were quite handy. But they were nowhere near as handy as my "eye-in-the-sky" servoskull wih the pict recorder and cameleoline upgrade, which provided a live feed to a dataslate. The perfect spy tool. gran_risa.gif

Hmm...how about an "manipulated Speaker" installed, glowing red lights in the sockets and "Intimidation +20" ?

"Last Trompete" could be used as a "special messengers", allowing you to give some associates, underling and other who dared to annoy you a message...about how very angry you are about them

[Yes, the idea is silly. But I like it]

Otherwise, a nameless skull could be fitted with the tools of a tormentor and the fitting skill at +20. "Orginial StarWars", anyone?

A gold one which is fluent in 6 million diffrent forms of communication.
