How does this work? How do you get a Long range scanner on a ship with no modification slot?
All ships can take modifications my friend.

Wouldn't mind using system officer either on whisper in a RAC setup...or the other way and potentially saving points by taking FCS OFF whisper for something else...just not sure what yet.
So we had Deathrain...
Now we have Deathfire...
Will we have Deathwind, Deathearth, and be able to make a Captain Planet bombing list?!
I feel for the poor soul that has to serve as crew on Deathwind's ship.
The expansion has just been officially promoted from excellent to ingenious!
My single Scimitar Sq. TIE Bomber pilot always wanted something better in his life. Killing Bobba, Chewie, Poe and others was never enough for him.
And now I know, he always wanted to be called "Deathfire" when he grows up.
Brilliant, just brilliant!
Can't wait for the release, but I'll start using a proxy card for the Bomber as soon as possible.
It's announcements like these that make me wish Sabine could be seduced to the dark side every once in a while... Or Scum with Emon Azameen. Of course, right now the rebels need all the help they can get, but it would be hysterical to see Sabine riding a Bomber or Lambda while Deathrain and Deathfire did their thing!
IMHO, Systems Officer is fine, but not great. It's a fantastic mechanic/concept, but he's a tad too restrictive. For the same triggering cost (perform a green) K4 Droid gives you a target lock. That's a target lock anytime that any enemy is in R1-R3, and you do a green move. It's pretty solid, but not bananas good. It really restricts a dial.
This card is one point less, but does the same thing, but only for another friendly ship, AND only at R1. That means you've got to do a green move, and end this green move at R1 of friendly ship, and then that friendly ship has to have an enemy within R1-R3 that it wants to take a target lock on (still have same TL problems if your support ship has low PS, in the pre-combat rounds, especially since the friendly may not have moved yet).
It's fine, but I'd like to have seen this work at R1-R2 so it has the same operating range as Fleet Officer. Imperials have tons of great ships with lots of green on their dial, but unfortunately, these aren't the ships where you'll be putting support crew, so aside from the Tie Shuttle, ships that want to try and benefit from this are going to have very limited options. It's going to take some precision to make this thing pay any real kind of dividends.
The range 1 restriction is the killer for me. I really don't see using this card much at all. It will be nice in epic to park a Scimitar Shuttle with System Officer right next to a Raider.
I do like DeathMine (his new name). He comes in a lot cheaper than Deathrain and his PS is better for mine action. EM + Conners for 23 points is pretty good.
Can anyone explain to me why Systems Officer needed to be faction specific? Especially with it being limited, that seems curious.
What, do *you* want to face four Blue Squadron B-Wings with target lock and focus every turn?

Why yes. Yes I do. I would gladly see that if it meant more B-wings on the table. ![]()

Agree. Deathfire is solid. Being able to do a hard 2 or a hard 3 across the bow of an enemy ace makes it pretty easy to barrel roll towards them, into a position where the long side of the Conner Net will be devastating.

Being the local bomber enthusiast, there's actually a very good reason I discovered as to why Sabine is rebel only
Put simply, you want to follow up bombs with some spectacular damage output, esp four points of conners setup on a valuable target
Rebels don't have said follow up. They have no Vader, no omega leader, no inquisitor nor redline nor anything like that unless you reach for one hit wonders ala procket Jake or bb8 wedge
In order for reb bombs to output the damage necessary to be viable, they needed Sabine. Works wonders on Miranda ![]()
Empire does not need Sabine. Their conners can setup murderous attacks from their incredibly painful aces

LOL.
He did say EVERY turn though, Vorpal. ![]()

Also whisper with a connor net seems like it could be pretty gross.

Fine. You got me. I forgot what a Tie Bomber dial looks like, okay? I don't fly Tie Bombers much. Is that what you wanted to hear?!! ![]()
I am pleased. I'll like Deathrain. I'll have to put action bombs on my Bomber now.
System Officer will be good on those ships that can take a crew. It won't happen much after the first few turns, most likely, but still not bad. Makes me look up what a Decimator dial is like. Not too bad, especially if you use your action to Boost away (with EU). Tie Shuttle would have some decent greens.

Heh I honestly thought I was missing something. I was like "Wait, is he better than I think because I'm missing something critical here?"

It's okay nugget we'll let it go this time.
I also just want to throw it out there that I LOVE the point range for loading out Deathfire. It looks like with EM, one ordnance of your choice, and one Action Bomb of your choice, this fella is going to range between 25 and 28 points (assuming you realize he'll only need 2 torps or missiles, 'cause there's no way he lives long enough to fire 3-4).
That's a point range that 's pretty much only filled up by Omega Leader right now, and he's great if you need more Anti-Ace stuff going on, but for lists that have roughly 26 points to spare, who would rather have raw DPS or who already have good pilots vs other aces, I'm really appreciative of this very viable alternative.
I love everything~ the pilots, the upgrades, mmmm. It's really sold me on Bombers again. I haven't wanted to play them since Wave IV! This rocks!
Okay, I'm not entirely sold on Long Range Scanners, but there has to be a situation that they'd be good. They seem like something out of Epic... maybe they'd be worthwhile on the CR-90?
Meh on Systems Officer. Far too restrictive. Loving everything else.
Yes, with a big asterisk: that Range 1 leash on the Lambda is a big hurdle for a lot of ships, and it probably won't be reliable once the first pass is done. Not gonna lie, I am liking the Tactician/Systems Officer combo on a Baffled Shuttle. Especially for just two points for the SO. Might make Patrol Leaders happy in the right setup, too.
Definitely not super reliable, but hear me out: what if you run two shuttles like that. Fly them up in tandem and you've got two 3ATK TL+F guns, with 20HP total, and you've got another 48 points to spend. The Baffles really helps those things stay in the fight, too.
I'll have to try it out before I start the proselytizing but I've got a good feeling about it.
48 points you say? I hear there's a fresh wing of Academy recruits in need of some flight time...

I actually meant the hypothetical of if sabine was unrestricted and could give whisper a connor net to carry around, but the list you suggest is also pretty disgusting.
Inquisitor, OL, Colzet and a fresh tie Shuttle
I'm 100% sure you meant Push the Limit on the Inquisitor. The Shuttle moves, give the Inquisitor a Target Lock, he uses the Title to take a free Evade, Pushes to Boost or Barrel Roll before his movement, does a green move to clear the stress, then Focuses.
