Rebel blues

By Ronu, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I don't have a ton of rebels but looking for ideas that might work for me.

So far I have:

Wedge Antilles — X-Wing 29

Push the Limit 3

BB-8 2

Engine Upgrade 4

Ship Total: 38

"Blue Ace" — T-70 X-Wing 27

R7-T1 3

Autothrusters 2

Ship Total: 32

The idea is the green for a barrel roll with BB-8 on Wedge to then use his PTL. To work a position, the execute the Green lose the stress. The Target lock or focus as needed. I see Blue ace as a bit of a wild card. His hard turn boost has lots of potential that is not used from what is can tell. Just how to make it work and then what to add for the remaining 30 or so points.

BB-8 on Wedge is great, but throwing in engine upgrade as well gets pricey - especially for the missed opportunity cost of Integrated Astromech.

I've seen one guy at our club do **** well with just Veteran Instincts and BB-8 - people aren't used to seeing a ship get to jink out of Darth Vader's arc after he's moved.

Blue Ace is very nice. Low pilot skill, but if you can get used to using him he's great. R7-T1 is an obvious pairing to make up for his lack of elite pilot talent - I'd say it's a toss-up between that and R2-D6 with Predator. The former is a point cheaper, and is a full-blown Target Lock, whilst the latter isn't dependent on your opponent's positioning - so you can still get rerolls if you dodge outside someone's arc (and you should be able to!) plus you can always fly head-on with Predator + Focus if you need to.

Any other X-wing can fit in - it's just a question of what you want out of the squad. With two heavy fighters, Wes Janson is pretty good (knocking out tokens - especially good if given improved pilot skill to shoot first) or if you want to continue the theme of outflying people, look at Ello Asty. the ability to talon roll then boost makes ello one of the slipperiest fighters in the game.

I'm trying not to blurt out to just keep your list as is - and get the 30 point initiative bid! ;)

But seriously, I think once you've got Wedge, VI kind of seals his supremacy. So, you may want to think about it. You could add a lesser X-wing for blocking to fill out the list.

I've flown wedge in predator bb8 intergrated as well as ptl bb8 intergrated. While i agree that you get some nice repositioning with the ptl I think it "shows your hand"

I prefer the pred +bb8 combo because it makes your damage more consistent and the barrel roll is a nice bonus for when you are staring at a astroid and suddenly you cleared it.

I agree with Magnus, EU is great for manuevering but makes him too costly. as for the the last bit, if you switch to a pred bb8 wedge you can fit a ion cannon fcs Keyan b wing. which, thanks to his ability lets you fly him hard and have a target lock and "focus" from the stress. really opens up his dial
