Fett's Dump Truck

By Jisforjets, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have played a few games on Vassal with this squad and really enjoy it. I was to worried about triple Boats to bring it to our spring kit event(I brought aholes and played triple boats in the last round, winning). So... I don't think it has the nuts for Uboats, but maybe some of you pros can set me straight. I stole the Bossk build from a vassal player.

Bossk

Marksmanship, K4, Zuckuss, chimps, cluster missile

Boba Fett

Autoblaster, VI, navigator, glitter, engine

100 points

Bossk/Marksmanship Zuckuss is a nice idea. especially with cluster missiles. You might lose him but it'll take some killing - he's still a YV-666. If you're prepared to go nuts on stress, that cluster barrage should break some serious face. The fact that you can pull a straight 3 and still trigger it gives bossk a scary strike range.

Fett should certainly be able to cope with jumpmasters, because he's **** fast. At worst, you'll spend one turn in torpedo range and glitterstimm can cover you then. After that, you're in amongst them and nigh unhittable.

That 3 straight green does make the cluster death bubble easier to manage. If I end up in range of all 3 Jump Masters for ordinance man... That could be a world of hurt.

I don't have any concept of reasonable expectations on Bossk's cluster missile barrage. With zuckuss I can go all in and force rerolls. Because of the low sample size I think Bossk's output is going to be subject to a lot of randomness.

True. Three torpedoes should be sufficient to end bossk you might as well assume they'll do 4 damage each, and any damage below this level or dodged should be made up for by the plasma effect burning at least one shield for free.

Even if you perform 100%, though, you can only just one-shot a contracted scout - 3 damage from Fett's autoblaster and 3 damage from each cluster missile spread. Assuming, even with Zuckuss, that he's not going to dodge something or that one of those red dice isn't going to come up tilt despite dice modifiers is rather over-optimistic.

Still, it's Fett that matters. Bossk is just a one-use missile truck and if he gets his launch away, he's done his job.

I might wonder if N'Dru Sulhak might do better as a cluster missile-wielding kamikaze, though.

If I was designing this build, I might consider taking Crack Shot and Glitterstim instead of Marksmanship. Reduced chance of criticals, but slightly improved defence (it may only be one green dice but it's better than nothing) and the option of getting that one extra hit through.

Engine protects Bossk from a 3 torpedo alpha strike (either you boost out of an arc, or you boost into range 1 to deny launches). Of course, then you risk getting scouts on your six, but if you can approach on an angle, it might be manageable (I admit I'm theorizing here....haven't actually tried it, but thought it worth mentioning)

100% would actually be 8 damage thanks to Bossk's ability if you roll hits and at least one focus on your two attacks (best case scenario is at least 1 focus and hits on both rolls, then Guidance Chips means it is possible to get hit, crit, crit on one roll and one shot a U-Boat with a lucky crit). It is very much a 1 trick pony, however I have been having a lot of fun with a similar Bossk with the same setup but with Homing instead of Cluster, and 4LOM and VI. Max damage here is 5, but i've one shot Vaders, cloaked Whispers, and Soontirs. The Cluster option is one I will definitely have to try out.

Love the name.

If you love the list and how it works, then love it and use it. I have kicked around ideas like your list for a little bit. I just picked up Hound's Tooth, and I'm a fan of Fett, first in Imperial lists, haven't tried in scum lists. Please keep us updated with how it does!

Consider Tactician. With AB, Fett's a threat at both R1 and R2.

It woud also give you room to fit 4-LOM on Bossk.
