Looking for a Spirit deck

By darkjawa103, in Strategy and deck-building

So I am just returning to the game after almost a year break. I want to try a secrecy deck. Does anyone have a deck list or link to an old one to jog my memory.

I've been playing a Secrecy deck lately:
Legend of Luthien

If that's not what you're looking for, you could try searching for Resourceful on RingsDB --most decks including that card will probably be of the Secrecy variety. :)

Now RingsDB supports searching decks by starting threat, so you could use that as a tool to find Secrecy decks as well.

Hate to kind of go off topic, but what is Secrecy and where is it in the rules? When did that keyword come into play?

Secrecy was introduced in the Dwarrowdelf Cycle. It reduces the cost to play a card with the Secrecy keyword by it's Secrecy value if your threat is under 21.

For instance, Resourceful is a 4-cost Neutral Attachment with Secrecy 3, so if your threat is 20 or lower you can play this card for 1 resource.

The problem with Secrecy, I think, is that it limits you to use mainly:

-Lore heroes
-Spirit Glorfindel
-Hobbits

-Spirit sphere, for threat reduction

And other than the relative safety of not engaging enemies and access to resourceful, secrecy doesn't really offer a lot to make it worth it. Timely Aid is really good, but it's in Leadership.

I was looking up the Secrecy stuff or the low-threat heroes and none of it really appeals to me. Also, I see a lot of decks on RingsDB using fewer than 3 heroes. Is this common??

I've been a huge fan of the idea of Secrecy ever since the Black Riders gave us some low-threat heroes to make it seem possible. Only recently has it started to really feel like Secrecy decks have a chance at being generally useful, though I'm not sure I could put my finger on what exactly has changed to make it so.

Two hero decks are not really common, but it does open up the possibility of using more powerful heroes in a Secrecy setting. If you stick with three heroes, you're basically limiting your pool to only those heroes with 5-8 threat. It sounds like the upcoming Dreamchaser cycle is going to add a little more support for two hero decks, so you might start seeing them crop up more soon.
