EPTs for the Inquisitor that aren't PTL or VI?

By Biophysical, in X-Wing

I'm looking ant non-PTL builds for the Inquisitor, mainly because that dial is too good to restrict it to greens. I have a few ideas, but would like to hear more:

So far:

Juke: Works well with the title, but makes you pretty action-dependent. This is true of PTL as well, though.

Predator: Overlaps with the title, so you probably don't take the title. It ends up being a pretty close approximation to TL/Evade from the title. It's not quite as good, but more flexible in targeting options and you don't worry about not getting a Target Lock.

?

?

?

Cop out: Adaptability. ;)

Outmanuver isn't crazy since he's often flanking long range.

Juke, you don't HAVE to TL, but when you trail someone it is a godsend as TL then comes naturally.

Is this simply a case of there not being a lot of great EPTs outside of the standard picks (PTL, VI, Predator) aside from a few corner cases (Juke, Wired, Crack Shot, etc.)?

I suppose Lone Wolf if you expect him to be on the fringes taking R3 pot shots or Outmaneuver, as Nigeltastic already suggested.

Daredevil?

Lone Wolf probably wouldn't be awful.

Make that a second for Lone Wolf. No reason for the Inquisitor to be closer than R2.

Ptl

Oh right, not ptl

Still ptl

You won't last without dem mods, man. Save the crazy nonsense for fun games w/rudor

Ruthlessness?

Lightning reflexes would be fun. Not as good as PtL but crazy fun.

I think you do have to TL, as Evade isn't natively an action option on TAPs.

That's actually really interesting, you can do a 3-turn and flip to try and keep distance from ships that are closing.

Actually you do have to TL to get an Evade token because TAPs don't have native Evade action.

It causes an issue for lower PS TAPs if they have a higher PS opponent who can fly upon them quickly.

Would make you terrifyingly unpredictable until you use it.

Yeah, this. Inquisitor fires early enough (PS8 is earlier than most) that he nearly always gets to use that evade to modify his attack, and still have it for self-defense. Which, paired with AT, makes him obnoxiously hard to kill.

Inquisitor + title + Juke + Autothrusters. Done, spend the rest of your points elsewhere.

He's just so good with PTL, it's really hard to pass up. Like others said, Juke seems good, but then you lose all your reposition options. I agree that it limits his amazing dial, but I think I'd rather be limited to the greens on that dial than giving up the option to boost/roll (after a TL/evade of course).

If you want to have fun with EPT's on the TAP, you are looking at the wrong pilot. ;)

Cop out: Crackshot. ;)

Fixed it for ya :P

But yeah Juke seems like the most reasonable answer as it allows a predominately defensive token which often gets ignored for the versatile focus token into something that works both defensive and offensive.

Other than that PTL because of so many action on the action bar and a decent dial to clear stress. But I think the question with any pilot is always what EPTs to take other than VI or PTL (or crackshot).

if you run with Yorr, or likeminded Wingmen you can rage?

Elusiveness, maybe. Makes him more defensive, and he can easily blow off the stress.

Daredevil with experimental would give him weird and interesting mobility options.

Opportunist gives him more firepower, and he can easily blow off stress the next turn.

Crack Shot is generally useful.

Adaptability is free, and gets him up to PS9

But the "big three" are:

VI: gets him up to PS10, which combos nicely with his excellent anti-ace shooting attack. This makes him a very major threat to high-agility aces.

Juke: Strong synergy with the title, this further enhances his already great shooting.

PTL: Gives him super awesome action economy, and very little cost (since he has excellent green maneuvers). This allows you to take advantage of the title every turn, instead of having to choose between re-positional and title actions.

IMO, none of the other options are nearly as good as these.

PTL

Outmaneuver is always kind of fun on a 2 Atk ship.

I don't like PTL on the inquisitor it felt restrictive, I'd go for juke it's a solid choice with v1 title.

Juke is a great option... but for a point more you get PTL and a lot more options.

I think Ruthlessness is one of the most powerful and underused EPTs in the game. It is weak against small builds and there is the risk of hitting your own ally. I personally love the idea of Ruthlessness on both Vader and Inquisitor in a Palp ace build.

PTL with mostly speed one greens is fine with fighters but against big ships I found myself wishing for a green three quite a few times.

If your going ruthlessness vessery with /D is where it's at.

He has Boost, Barrel Roll and wants to take a TL each turn to get his evade as well. PTL it is, though Lone Wolf and Juke are options too if you really, really need to save one point and can not take it somewhere else and yet can not take adaptability nor VI.

PTL it is.
