Crouching A-wing, Hidden A-wing, and then another A-wing

I barely see A-wings mentioned at all on this forum and they're not in the popular archetypes that get press, but MajorJuggler's data here is telling me that they're in the Rebels' top five most used ships in most configurations of the data. If you remove Vassal and Other data (only Store Championships, Regionals, Nationals and Worlds) they're the second most used ship in terms of points spent after the B-wing.

Where are all these camera shy little fighters and what are they doing?

only thing I've heard of is the 5 Greenie crackshot + thrusters + adaptability

A-wings aren't jousting efficient, but they have an amazing dial + boost which makes them some of the nastiest little blockers in the game. 2nd place at worlds was won mostly by a baby prototype carrying poe and corran to victory

it's a lost art, but also one of the most devastating you can do to your opponents (Especially if they're running small numbers of elite ships)

There is a list with at least one A-wing post here daily, don't know what you are talking about.

I just find them distasteful point traps and don't like blockers without a barrel roll. I mostly fly imperial though so I guess those opinions shouldn't be surprising.

Not camera shy, just flying too fast for the cameras! :D

So I find the Proto A to be the best blocker in the game. Boost is really handy for showing up and blocking. However... up close Ties are better.

Surprise blocks: A Wings

knife fight range blocks: Tie Fighters.

Big Fat pain in the ass blocks: Lambda Baffaloes.

:) I like blocking

Are you referring to the second most used Rebel ship in April? Cause there isn't a ton of data for April yet and so you should probably take those results with a grain of salt. Not to say I don't like the A-wing or don't think it's capable but I think you're misinterpreting the data a bit.

If you only look at the lists that have made the top cut there's been ~57 lists reported in April and ~23 of which that've been Rebel. 14% of Rebel points spent have been on A-wings and we know a few of those were full A-wing lists... so maybe 3 full A-wing lists or 2 full and 2 half A-wing lists? Not crazy.

They've got very good representation since January. Even before that.

Define very good? There was only 11 Rebel ships a month ago, so anything below 9% is below average which they were at all times.

The little point traps can really make themselves worth the investment. I've carried a 38p Tycho through a regionals without losing him once, and that was not because he didn't see any action. He ate both a Whisper(pre-nerf) and a brobot amongst other things.

As for not seeing them I don't know what that is about. If we're talking local meta I can understand, but I see A-wings everywhere these days and I couldn't be happier ^^
