Feels like it's been awhile for X-Wing news

By Fuzzywookie, in X-Wing

There's news. They haven't spoiled quite a bit of the Imperial Vets pack. I'm hoping they do so soon.

Wait, what's left? We know all but two three of the pilots, don't we? And one of those is an EPT generic whose stats are entirely known but for the price, which has itself been estimated to plus or minus 1pt.

We've seen all four 'fix' cards, we know what tractor beams are now, and the only other upgrade card we've not seen previously is the Systems Officer.

Two pilots, one price tag, and a single upgrade card would be a bit of a stretch for another update. It's possible we'll see some of them yet - they often do a 'is about to be released!' or 'is out now!' article, and they may just spoil one or two tidbits there while expounding on we-knew-it-already mechanical implications of the rest of it... but that's about it, honestly.

They like to leave at least one surprise per pack, and there's only three left. ;)

May the 4th big news day... Colored bases will hit the streets..... wohooo...

They're probably going to focus on the card games for the next 8 months.

New Season of Game of Thrones starts pretty soon. They've got some new products they've been previewing and some new expansions are releasing.

Been playing the game, was expensive to buy enough to have 8 playable faction decks for board game night.

It is listed as a 2-6 player game on the website, but to actually turn the product into a playable game for 5+ players is a real pain in the ass.

2 core sets, 3 expansions, 8 packs of card sleeves, some more clear card sleeves for some double sleeving, deck boxes, single economy cards purchased from ebay because they only include 4 copies of the economy cards in each core set to split between 8 factions.

There aren't any official guidelines on how to balance the decks against each other, gotta rely on experiments and experiences of other players.

Well, they have to be running out of ships at this point. I imagine if they did a wave purely of "aces" it would tick some people off.

What else are there that wouldnt be a Huge Ship and isnt already in the game? Besides prequel ships, they dont make any sense due to the technology differences.

Some of the obscured barely shown ships in the last movie and the square dished falcon.

Re: prequel ships, there is no issue with technology differences in the game. As it is, the technology difference between ships you can currently field is already huge.

You don't play armada do you?

the "two larvae on pegs" rebel transports look more like sick joke >_>

There are literally 3 cards from Vets they haven't spoiled yet: Countess Ryad, the cost of the Glaive Squadron Pilot, and the Sys... Off... which is presumably a Systems Office crew card. Four, if you count Maarek, but it looks pretty certain his ability won't change, so the only thing we don't know is his price.

There's also "Deathrain" or whoever the Bomber pilot beginning with "Dea..." is.

Oh derp, true.

4 cards, plus Maarek.

On that basis I doubt we get another article before release - they'll want to hold one back, and doing two articles with two cards each would seem a little mean to me. I'd assume we'll get an article a week or so before the street date confirming the street date and all but one of the cards (sadly, probably the Sys... Off... which is the one I'm most interested in...

My guess for a future article schedule would be a big announcement on 4 May (probably Rebel or Scum aces and/or a Scum epic ship), a big announcement on 18 April to coincide with the DVD release (guessing Wave 9), a release announcement for Vets late May (hopefully street date before 1 June, so I can have it ready for the Yavin open but I doubt it) then proceeding into the normal release cycle.

E: hoping for a street date earlier than 26 May, they've just announced pre-registration for Yavin and I'm not going to risk submitting a Vets list unless it's already hit the street by then and I actually have hold of it.

Seems unlikely :(
