I was pondering a non-trooper imperial squad, just for fun, and I noticed General Weiss and General Sorin seem to have some synergy together. With proper placement, Weiss should protect Sorin from any cleave or Bantha antics. And, allowing Weiss to use the stun & focus ability from Sorin makes Weiss pretty powerful, as if 3 chosen dice didn't do that already. However, those two are a combined 24pts. And, on top of that, Sorin's command cards wouldn't make the list, as his bombardment ability does the same thing since only Weiss and Sorin would be together. Weiss' card is more trooper focused, which is bad if I'm trying to stay away from trooper. If you were making this squad, what would you include with it? 2xRoyal Guard? Prope Droids? OR, bite the bullet, and go with troopers?

There's probably only 1 viable list with Weiss:
Weiss, 2x eStorm, eOfficer, and either Targeting Computer for Weiss or Rule By Fear
This actually gives you enough firepower to compete, and you can actually get extra shots with Weiss to attempt to make him worth it (spoilers, he's not).
With Sorin, the most obvious squad is like:
Sorin, Tank, 2x eProbe, temp alliance, hks, officer, rule by fear
Quite a lot of firepower, but you'll struggle with objectives and it falls apart if the tank dies.
You could probably tweak the Sorin list some, but removing any piece kind of lowers your reasons for bringing Sorin.
I'm 3-1 with Weiss in our vassal tournament so far.

But if you're wanting to stay away from troopers, then I'd suggest eProbes. And I'd always suggest Targeting Computer with Weiss; when you get a nice Blast 3 shot lined up, you REALLY want to roll enough surges!

Officer moves, and moves Weiss, Sorin moves and bombards with Weiss. Weiss moves both droids and attacks. Droids move/interact/attack as needed. If moved correctly, might be sustainable. Not the best list, for sure, but different.
The problem is your ridiculously low health pool and number of targets.
How about this list for a bit of fun:

Would be hilarious watching the tank zoom around the board with 6 movement points and getting extra damage when being ordered to shoot, well before it dies of course, but pretty potent while it lasts.

Weiss with a Targeting Computer, an Elite Officer, and Vader all walk into a Rebel aligned bar. Hilarity ensues.
This is a super fun list to play. Unfortunately what kills it are opponent command cards. However, the look on your opponent's face when you plunk down both Vader and Weiss is usually gold. They either sit there with a silly grin on their face that reads only, "What?", or they immediately furrow their brow and start wondering which of their units will do any damage. I play this list for giggles, but it often wins to my surprise. Use the Officer to move Weiss up, use Weiss to shoot and move both the Officer and Vader up, use Vader to demolish.
You won't win, but you WILL have fun with it. 
Of course these lists are not going to be highly competitive in tournament play, This is just something to have fun with. And to use the beautiful mini's which don't see play often. The fire power Weiss has is incredible! The tank idea is kInda fun to think about. A literal mobile glass cannon! love the idea of throwing Vader down with him!

You could break the eOfficer down into a probe and a regular officer if you wanted more units, but i've got a feeling the eOfficer's ability to grant a full move will be necessary to utilize Weiss.

Yes, the full move is nice--especially during the first round. However, most of the time he's just there for the free attack...3 customizable dice is just too much to ignore.
This idea has been in my helad also. Great synergy between them and with explosive weaponry you can get blast 5. Not to shabby. My list would look like this.
