So I'm thinking of using Dengar in one way or another, which is leading me to these questions:

Hotshot Blaster exploit?

Dengar's ability reads: Once per round after defending, if the attacker is inside your firing arc, you may perform an attack against that ship.

Hotshot Blaster reads: Attack: Discard this card to attack 1 ship (even a ship outside your firing arc). Attack: 3. Range 1-2.

Is there any way to use Hotshot Blaster after being attacked to attack a ship outside of your firing arc? Can anyone think of a way to make this work?

I assume that Gunner functions on Dengar as it does on all other ships. For instance, if Dengar misses the initial reactionary attack, he can then choose a different target for his Gunner attack, correct? And that attack can be outside of his firing arc (A.K.A. any eligible target).

Also, just food for thought, if the JM5K (Dengar in particular) had two Crew slots... Look out.

Your counterattack can trigger the gunner, and you can shoot other ships with your second attack, even outside your firing arc. But you don't need hotshot blaster, the Jumpmaster has a primary turret.

Edit: In fact, it works only with your primary, since gunner allows only primary weapons, so you cannot use the HS blaster.

No, you cannot ever trigger Dengar's ability by being attacked by someone outside your primary arc.

Also, the JM5k has only one crew slot and one salvaged astromech slot, despite what the release article said. Don't believe the release articles.

You COULD in theory use Gunner to trigger an out of arc shot after missing when using Dengar's ability, but you wouldn't be able to use HSB because it's not a primary - and assuming you have the title, there's VERY little reason to take HSB at all, it's 3 points for a single shot at range 3 without defensive mods, compared to your primary.
