Hi all,

I have a ship with R5-P8 (Scum Salvaged) which states "Once per round, after defending, you may roll 1 attack die. On a <hit> result the attacker suffers one damage. On a <crit> result, you and the attacker suffer one damage"

Question(s)

(a) I'm attacked by a ship with 1 HP remaining equipped with gunner(or IG88B ability). After the ship performs it's first attack I use R5-P8 and roll a hit. The attacker takes 1 damage removing its last hit point. Does the attacker get to perform it's gunner/iG 88B attack? I think no, because both Gunner and IG88B are optional attacks, implying that a completely new attack phase commences - and you can't commence an attack phase if you're dead.

(b) I'm attacked by a 1HP ship with TLT. After it performs it's first TLT attack, I R5-P8, get a hit and kill the ship. Does the second TLT shot happen? In this case, I'd say yes, because R5-P8 interrupted a single attack phase, which has yet to complete.

Thoughts?

a) If you have initiative you might be able to kill the Gunner ship before it can declare the use of Gunner, but otherwise I expect not, based on the Gunner/Vader interaction in the FAQ.

b) I think you're right about this, but given the recent FAQ on Valen Rudor moving into the donut hole after the first shot, it's possible the game designers don't.

I think the answer for both question is yes. I quote the precedent established by the Darth Vader ruling in the FAQ, when a ship is destroyed between 2 attacks:

If a ship equipped with Darth Vader can attack twice in one round (such as a ship equipped with Gunner or Cluster Missiles), it can use Darth Vader after the first attack. If Darth Vader destroys the ship to which he is equipped, it can still perform its second attack.

I'd also say Yes to both based on the Darth Vader precedent.

Ship with Vader attacks (which allows Vader to trigger) and misses (which allows Gunner to trigger and can only happen as part of the attack) which has Vader go off "killing" the ship before the Gunner gets to go off although strangely Vader doesn't get to trigger off of this attack. The timing of the droid also has it going off during the attack so I don't see any difference.

If nothing else we could also cite "spontaneous fire" as a reason the zombie ship would still get those attacks off. After all, it is happening during it's PS of shooting and there are still attacks remaining for it.

I hope it come out that you can not perform you second attack

because with Vader you are doing the damage to you self resolving your own cards. Where as R5-P8 is an external effect on your ship interrupting your ability to resolve cards

I hope it is the way it gets ruled as it would be awesome for that little droid

Initiative only decides order of resolution, not order of triggering.

Everyone triggers everything based on the trigger that passed, then everythjing triggered is resolved, even if the ship in question has been killed by one of the things in the interim.

At least, I think that's the current best-subscribed-to position.
