I don't think making fun of Europe and/or the USA is very constructive. The Bell Curve dictates that any time you have several hundred million people in any one area you are bound to have some down there on the left side of the curve. It is the way it is. I think every country is messed up in it's own unique way due to history and customs.
"No War" people vs X wing
And we shouldn't have to have arguments over guns either.... 2nd Amendment is very clear. That out of the way (and lets not derail this and get into a silly argument about it), I don't think I've ever heard of, or seen these people down here in Georgia, but they certainly sound very silly.Nope. Nothing against Soccer or Hunting either. Guns maybe, but not hunting. I think a "'MERICA!" is appropriate here. =)
PG actually, only RotS and TFA are PG-13.Literally zero problems playing a game based on a PG-13 movie.
Ahhh the good old second amendment. Helping Americans kill each other since 1776. You tell me the reason a person needs military grade weapons in their house and I will call you an idiot.
But to the OP's statement, there will be always people wanting to ban things. Vegans, anti vaxxers etc, it's just the nature of things. Don't let them beat you down! When I was growing up they were trying to link D&D with youth suicide, people will do anything to try and achieve their aims.
1. The Bill of Rights was ratified in 1791, not 1776.
2. The purpose of having a military grade firearm is being able to fight Soldiers, either foreign or domestic, with a comparable weapon system. It is every Military Aged Male's responsibility to learn how to shoot a rifle similar to the one that I use in the Army, even if they choose not to serve in the military.
3. Go ahead and call me an idiot just because I don't agree with you, that totally solves the debate and is a completely mature way to make your point. /sarcasm/
As for the OP;
I'm sorry that your country has issues with accepting the reality that it is fun to simulate war in space with small plastic models, dice, and cards. I know why war shouldn't be glorified or played off as something that everyone should aspire to do at some point in their lives, but tests of simulated combat have been around ever since someone invented gaming. Things like chess, wrestling, any track and field event, and numerous other games have their roots in simulating combat and are important to keep the mental and physical agility of a country strong. I think the biggest problem with SJWs today is that they like to attempt bans on things that seem aggressive and/or don't mesh with their beliefs, but they won't accept structured counterpoints or engage in mature conversations that deal with implications that go beyond their immediate surrounding area. While most claim to be accepting and tolerant, they will be the first to discourage opinions that are not their own.
OP, I hope that you continue to play X-wing and other war games and play an active part in making sure they don't take your games away. If anything, invite them to play a few games, show them that it is good clean fun, and let them move along to their next crisis.

I mean seriously, what is it with (some) Americans thinking that Red Dawn js a factual representation of their ability to fight a fully trained and equipped military.
The need to own a gun is a complete nonsense. The UK has managed fine without them thanks.
OP: I'm surprised people are like that. I know some people get very worked up over things like COD, and you even get people thinking Harry Potter and D&D promote witchcraft and devil worship - but these are tiny spaceship figures.
Some people just look for a reason to get upset I guess.

The UK does fine because it's too boring and rainy there for criminals to get motivated. You also have beef eaters on every corner who saunter over to any commotion mumbling "Wot's all this then" while CCTV records everything.

Well we don't really have primary school here, we have high school, and most people old enough to enter the military are out of high school or nearly so.
You have to be 18 to enter the military and most people graduate when they're 18.
Also depending on where you live, the local high school can be as dangerous if not more so than many war zones.

I love how he says that a people cannot fight off a trained military force when history shows that they typically do so quite effectively. Revolutionary War? Vietnam? Do they not teach you about these events in school in the UK?
I'm not necessarily for people owning assault rifles and I do not own a gun myself, but I am an American (in Texas no less!) and do think the 2nd Amendment is one of the most important, and being careful to protect it is worthwhile.

We have the French to thank for our independence
Which is why ww2 is so huge; gave us licence to mock them instead of being beholden
Vietnam last I check wasn't very big on the 2nd amendment, or on the Russians, but they still accepted the weapons shipped from them
Course there's the various other problems in vietnam what had nothing to do with firearms, mainly our utter lack of understanding of both communism (which we believed to be monolithic when even China and Russia detested each other) and of vietnam itself
Remember diem? Great public relations guy. Gave us that wonderful pic of the monk self cremating himself in protest of antibuddist laws which, turned out, affected the majority of the population
So yeah, Xwing!

Besides as subjects of the crown it was a civil war not a revolutionary war and the French won it for you so I wouldn't be too proud.

The main point was that any people who have the access to weapons have the ability to perform an insurgency against an occupying professional army. There are many examples of this throughout history but if you want a more British styled one then you can look at Afghanistan in the 1800's.

This just sounds so delusional.
All of these "preppers" who think some assault rifles and canned beans in their homes are gonna let them resist a modern day military.....LOL
Hell, one armored tank could overrun an entire town of citizens armed with military-armed firearms, if it wanted to. Let alone one long-range missile strike or drone strike, conducted from thousands of miles away, haha. IF a modern military wanted to wipe you out, they could easily do it. Fortunately for humanity, that is never something that is going to happen outside of preppers' most delusional and paranoid fear-fantasies. And no, the reason the government does not and will not start drone-striking its own people has nothing to do with them being afraid of someone's basement full of AR-15s.
Don't let people justify their own gun-fetishism with some BS fantasy that they are keeping all of us safe from some oppressive tyrannical regime that is only held back from absolutely totalitarian genodice by fear of Jebidiah Neckbeard's gun collection. Jeez....

Heck, look at Afghanistan in the 2000s. Or the 1990s. Or the 1980s. Or 330 BC.
Makes you wonder why anyone tries.

If the invading force is trying to occupy the country then they are going to need to keep everything running as smoothly as possible, if some ******* with wire cutters performed the right cut after a week or so then the regular citizenry will be rioting and the invading forces have a couple hundred thousand per city problems to worry about.

You can fix ignorance.
You can't fix stupid.
And you REALLY can't fix ignorance on the interwebs.

With just the teensiest help of the economic and military superpowers France, Spain and the Netherlands. It's not as if the colonies had the undivided attention of the British forces.
When people from a different country start telling me that I shouldn't have the right to something the US Constitution allows... It's time to abandon the thread.

Your comments make sense based on what is taught in school any more. You need to look at the historical context of when the second amendment was written. At that time in history the average citizen could possess weapons of war that were as good or better than what the military used. If the founding fathers could have conceived of how powerful weapons of war would become then I fully believe they would have placed even more monumental restrictions on the government. As it was the restrictions placed were unheard of in the world. What other country has ever attempted to put in place the ability for its citizenry to overthrow a tyrannical government? Why do you think that tyrannical regimes throughout history has disarmed the citizens in the interest of "safety" before the oppression began? I have no delusion that I could stand toe to toe with the military. I also do not think your average American soldier would blindly follow orders to drive that tank through town killing civilians. My right to self defense was assured by the founding fathers but the right does not come from my government. It is an inalienable right that I will defend with my life if that is what is required.

Also worth pointing out that invading a foreign country (or trying to control your own) and then blowing up towns you are suspicious of is a pretty bad plan. Especially if most of the country is armed to any degree. I don;t think that has ever worked in the invader's favor.
Wait, what? The Vietnamese army wasn't a militia, it was... well... an army.
You may want to go back and review who/what that army was made up of and compare it directly to the American forces. They called themselves and army, and even had a subset of trained troops, but to say they were anywhere near an even playing field is a HUGE overstatement.
Edited by Hida77Yeah, I've always wonderd why the US doesn't just update the constitution to reflect the times. I think ours has been updated a dozen times in the last 100 years. It's a set of laws, not something to get sentimental about.
