M3A in the Uboat meta

So, everyone knows that the M3A is a glass cannn that isnt worth it's cost. However, in the current Meta, with Uboats regularly getting 4 hit torpedos off, the M3A with Evade token is at an interesting point of durability- With an evade token and a single evade rolled on 3 dice (4 if Seresu is nearby) it can survive even a maximized torpedo or HLC.

Offensively, it's still weak- without a focus, it's not worth paying the overhead to put a canon on it. But 19 points for a PS5 with juke that survives a maximized proton torp 3/4 of the time... or just a 14 point blocker, may make for interesting choices in this meta.

Palob denys a jummaster it's torpedos as the jukeboxes nibble away at it's health. Intel agent gives options vs Palpaces, letting the M3As use their barrel rol to deny tokens.

That's a very interesting build. I quite like the scyk, and I've tried to put it into a few lists, but never with juke. You've got the wheels turning in my head here...

I did consider putting the title for a proton rocket on the Tansari Point Vet, and giving him crack shot. A 23 point procket carrier, flying alongside something that draws more aggro could be effective too.

Dorsal turret might as well be nothing against Palp aces. Go with Autoblaster, this saves us a point. Drop Intel Agent, and put Cloaking Device on Palob. This allows him to get closer to things easier for his ability and for the autoblaster.

I've been using Mindlink on Brobots and it's amazing. Spreading that across a bunch of M3-A's seems like the way to go. I've seen the list suggested before and it's something like:

Serissu with Title, Tractor Beam, Mindlink

3x TPV with title, Mangler Cannon, Mindlink

4 points leftover so you can make one an HLC, give Serrisu a Mangler, make one of the TPV's a Contracted Scout with Mindlink and Intel agent or something, etc. Serrisu with that loadout is the same cost as the TPV's, so she could be another TPV also.

So what you have is 4 ships, 3 of which can have TL + Focus cannon shots.

There are a ton of interesting potential sleeper power builds floating around in my head right now, but I need to get practice for regionals so I have to pass on them for now.

Wait just a little longer. Alex from FFG has basically promised a fix for this ship. Stay strong, it will come.

With focus and evade and potentially a serrisu reroll, not too bad if I need to survive a torp blast or two.

Mindlink is a power card, son.

I won an escalation tournement last weekend with Tel Trevura and 4 TPV'S with Manglers and all Mindlinked together. Lost two ships all day.

Was it the Mindlink that gave them all Focus while the rest did an Evade? If so, that's pretty cool.

I've been running a Mindlink squad with a Mangler Cannon Syck in it; 3 agility with Focus and Evade are tough nuts to crack and that little guy has pulled his weight and then some in every match.

Yes. Tel's job was to pass focus and not die. All of them were turtle up almost every round. The only M3 death of the day was when I clipped a rock with Tel and left the M3 in front of a U-boat and a G-1A with nothing but an evade token. Rolled blank focus focus on one and evade focus focus on the torpedo shot. Dead Scyk.

I've been running Serissu in my local league, with 2 U-boats. I've started to really like him ever since I saw this combo:

They fly together, and make each other a lot stronger, Serissu giving palob extra actions, and palob giving serissu extra evades.

I can't change it in the league, but Serissu does make for some fun shenanigans with tractor beam. I think the main thing I'd change is removing Boba Fett and Zuckuss and giving Serissu either Squad leader or Swarm tactics, for more reliable focus getting/ torpedo firing. The only problems I've had with this list is when I don't hit hard enough with the Protons, and when I get outmaneuvered, but I have had Serissu tractor beam a b-wing to where it flew off the board, and moved a few other ships so they didn't get a shot at him and/or lined up a perfect torpedo shot on a ship with 0 green dice.
