Guys I was pondering this and will like to hear your take on what will happen to the Loyal 100th Spider once Rokugan becomes the Onyx Empire.

I am thinking:

1. Extermination - Fallowing the events presented by WC 5; once Kanpeki finds out that they were responsible of abducting his child he will unleash his fury on them.

2. Die out - Not many individuals left and hardly any support from the Clans.

3. Minor Clan - Not many individuals left, the Spider Clan Great Clan status is revoked and becomes a Minor Clan. A blessing in disguise due the Imperial decree forbidding Great Clans from waging full-scale war upon any Minor Clan.

Will it be plausible to keep an untainted, shoriudo followers, version of the schools as a separate Clan/ Faction?

I think any Spider actually loyal to the Iweko will need to run-maybe the Unicorn and Scorpion can lend a hand there, but Kanpeki isn't going to take their betrayal lightly.

Or he will congratulate for their devotion to Shourido (they followed their own path rather than blindly following the vision of their lord) and offer them a one-time chance to bow before him.

If Shibatsu was not involved in the abduction of Kanpeki's daughter I will say Kanpeki will give them a second chance. Of course after marrying Miaka (who recently became a widow, what a coincidence!) and asking Shibatsu for his seppuku.

At this moment I am sided with Gunichi. I can see them (us) on the run. Most likely in clans that we have infiltrated, maybe bat (with most of the Yoritomo gone, they will need protection), dragonfly (can be too risky with the Kitsuki poking around), sparrow?

Another option will be joining the Tortoise will be fine (hiding in the seas, with bushi to protect their courtiers).

Or maybe impersonating a lost Clan, I know it would be an uphill battle, a lot of courtly action, and a lot of favors asked) but we have good courtiers and can be dip into aggressive negotiations if needed. Firefly (we can be very good Magistrates, mind you), Raven (we had monks), maybe even Sharks (we can be ruthless, you know).

I have forgotten about the Lost Minor Clan, and must tell you that bringing them back as the Raven is kind of tempting. Will think about that...

I would go for Canon Lost Clans. As for which Clan? The Firefly. It's proximity to Otosan Uchi would explain the reasoning for their harshness, as well as any residual taint that may or may not be detected.
