Repair Patches on vehicles

By starrius, in Game Masters

so do they work on them or are they mainly designed for droids?

Droids, and cyber folk from Special Modifications.

Repair patches still recover Wounds. not Hull Trauma.

ahha thx!

It's entirely up to you.

Even though it's not mentioned in any FFG books that I know of, Star Wars is still a very advanced technology. Advanced to the point where, for a lot of things, people and places purposefully use cheaper alternatives to things merely out of convenience or cost. But I digress.

Shield Technology is fairly ubiquitous. It might not be out of place to say that there is available some "Hull Integrity Shielding" that could perhaps be installed so that if there is a Hull Trauma, these shielding units could be called upon to close hull breaches and help maintain integrity. Kind of like the shields that keep the atmosphere inside the hangar bays of space vessels, just on a smaller scale.

As a GM though, I might make these things just barely too expensive for the crew. Perhaps design them to work amazingly like stimpacks, 10/8/6/4/2, or even 15/12/9/6/3, say the shielding loses its effectiveness when it's called on to cover more and more of the ship.

Just spitballing ideas.

Maybe 10 repair patches can become 1 Hull Trauma, if we take the personal scale ratio of damage and apply it to planetary objects. Seems like the equivalent of putting a tarp over it and stapling it down, but in a pinch....

I didn't say it was a good option.

If at all, it should be at least the equivalent of 500 cred worth of patches.

But, I don't like it either.

I'm with you, I'd rule it more as an emergency hole patch rather than anything that would actually add back a point of armor to a ship. The implementer had better roll pretty well, too.
