Interesting to see the issue from your perspective. Still not very impressed with the reasons or the outcome.

I also was less than impressed with the fear of engagement scenario that lead to a draw at the Hoth event.

I'm just glad that others at the Hoth event played their games. Would have been a shame to see a player like Flemming been boxed out. I watched his last three matches at Hoth, and it was a lot of fun. Your discussion certainly makes one wonder if Roanoke could have seen the same kind of excitement, but timidity puts that to bed handily.

You guys made a case for your actions, and I will be interested to hear how this plays out in future tournaments.

Still like the opening of the show.

Finally an X wing podcast that's not 2-3 hours long!

Can't wait to listen, great work mynocks!

If you're looking for a short one, Radio TCX is thirty minutes released weekly!

I do love the ne Mynock format and this episode as well!

Listened to the whole thing. Well done.

I still will never understand this. A 3 hour podcast is just 3 one hour podcasts in my book. Why do we ask for less?

I wasn't aware you ever lost control of the podcast, the April 1st episode was identical to a normal broadcast :P

No, Asa and Tyson Podcasted EVEN Better!

I love the podcast guys, but it really sucks that your time got slashed, I usually enjoyed the podcast the way it was. I felt like this episode was twenty minutes of actual x wing, then 40 minutes of the ID discussion which really is now at this point over discussed, ffg gave their message, email them with more complaints, but I know I listen to pod casts to learn new strategies, lists, combos, tips, theorizing and to get that for less then half a show was a let down. Not trying to just complain, you have a new time restriction, just saying most of the hour should be about actual x wing. Just a suggestion, listen to me, don't listen, just my 2 cents, still love the podcast!

Wow so instead of playing the game out they drew, wow that is some chickenshit stuff. I understand wanting to see what your oppenent is doing but at some point you move in when you realize your oppenet is just going to sit in a corner.

Engaging before the other moves gives a decent tactical advantage to the person who moves last, Keyboard Warrior.

I can dig the shorter format that is being released more often. 2-3 hour podcasts are tough to listen and stay engaged to during commute or during work.

I guess I actually play this game to "play the game" not sit around and advance for not playing

Because I listen to multiple podcasts and only have a certain amount of time each day to listen so they get backed up quick.

In that case you'd have moved in and fought the enemy. But these people were in a Premier level tournament playing for a trip to London. They did not have the same goals as you would, which is fine.

Yo, KT, Kelvan. Yup, that's what it all comes down to right? The win at any cost. Well, I'm with Barriecritzer on this. That situation was about as lame of a story I've heard, but you calling this guy a "keyboard warrior" just doesn't make sense. Are you supposed to be some kind of real veteran looking down his nose at an unblooded civilian? If you are, thank you for your service. If not, whateves. Barriecritzer is entitled to share his opinion about the effete antics of the players of that particular game.

How about this: They were characters in a Star Wars story. The return to report to the Dark Lord of the Sith.

"What Happened?" glowers Lord Vader.

"My lord, we spotted the enemy."

"And then," coaxes Vader.

"We left, my lord,"

Cue the scene of several Imperial fighter pilots being force choked.

Frankly that ID at Hoth is what made me realize this podcast isn't for me. Great guys, good energy, they just have a different focus on the game than I do. My opinion is just that. Mine. Some people share it, some don't, but I think we can still get along together.

Still, they have the best opening of all the X wing podcasts.

1. A Person who, being unable to express his anger through physical violence (owning to their physical weakness, lack of bravery and/or conviction in real life), instead manifests said emotions through the text-based medium of the internet, usually in the form of aggressive writing that the Keyboard Warrior would not (for reasons previously mentioned) be able to give form to in real life.

2. The term is a combination of the word 'keyboard' (the main tool by which the person expresses his/her latent rage) and 'warrior' (due to the warrior-like aggression, tendency towards violence, headstrong nature and propensity towards brute force as a means of resolving conflict rather than more subtle means dependant on finesse).

3. The Keyboard Warrior seeks to use the power imbued in his 'weapon' to effect death and destruction (in a strictly-metaphorical sense) upon his foes (other virtual identities he has encountered on the internet). In essence, the keyboard (ie. text input ability) allows the keyboard warrior to manifest his true warrior nature in a safe and removed environment, from which no real-life repercussions .

4. Keyboard Warriors are generally identified by unneccessary rage in their written communications, and are regarded as 'losers' by other virtual identities on the internet.

Ken is such a keyboard warrior when he gets onto the internet.

Thanks Goldie. Not sure that the definition you present is all that much at odds with how I parsed it in my head, but it pretty much confirms I'm an old man. Still think it was a little much to call him that.

IDs has really pulled a lot of aggressive people out of the wood works. I understand they really don't like the rule. I don't think it's a good excuse for being a jerk online. It's been a bit disconcerting. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

look man. Calling someone chickenshit for not engaging and using smart tactics is maybe uncalled for. My calling him a keyboard warrior was also uncalled for. Everyone's a little hot about this.

But lets dig a little deeper into the situation.

Both of these opponents wanted to gain an advantage by seeing the enemies' flight path. This isn't uncommon for players who run shuttles. After a period of stalls each player realized the other wasn't going to give up the advantage. Instead of flying into a trap they decided not to. This caused a draw. That's ok. It's not chickenshit, its seeing a bad situation and walking away from it.

If you would fly into a a bad tactical situation for fun that's fine. If you wouldn't like the players in question that's fine too. People go to tournaments with different goals and all goals are valid so long as you're not breaking Wheaton's law.

Fair enough. What happens to them on the bridge of the Star Destroyer?

And for the record, I don't dislike the players in question.

I would have to say that Kelvan has it right. If I were to do it all over again would I have moved in to engage? Absolutely. It's not like I went into the game thinking "oh I'm just not going to fight this guy". By the time we had realized what was happening over half the gametime was over. It was a weird confusing thing.

I'll admit I was too timid to engage with him in open competition. I should've, end of story. It was a very nerve wracking part of the tournament for me, just a game or two away from making Top 8. A draw essentially meant that I could have a "Win and your in" final game. That's something that really spoke to me at the time. Unfortunetely that game ended up being against Dee. But it's besides the point.

You can call me chickenshit, because that's what I was, but I won't apologize for what I did in one game at a stressful time. I went 6-2-1 on the weekend and beat some very very very talented people and I'm proud of that.

Also, no one is forcing us to slash our podcast time. It's our choice. Instead of one 3 hour podcast every two and a half weeks, we're doing an hour long podcast every week. Those who are concerned about content, don't, we have a revolving door of different segments for each week of the month.

Thanks for listening, you guys are the best.
