MC30s/Mothma

By SmogLord, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi all. What do you think of this list? I just bought a third MC30 and would like to try using them all in a fleet. Puts out lots of damage, but maybe too squishy?

Like any high-ship activation low-squadron build, it's susceptible to bomber builds.

die

All I see are 3-4-5 ship, no-to-low squadron builds these days which is making me fly Rhymerballs more and more. Your ships will put a definite hurt on other ships, but one blue die AA could be a problem.

Well, Jan and 3 X-Wings isn't terrible at hitting a Rhymer Ball. You gun for what you can with your 4-Blue Attacks... Tie up what you can with Intel. Move freely to engage those you need to with your Intel... Jan passes out Braces for those attacks from a Rhymer Ball that do multiple damage (Usually the Escorting Advanced)...

But it really is minimum.

I'm not sure where to find 4 more points but title as many mc30s as you can. They last way longer with titles and almost aren't worth bringing with out them.

Well, I've got Foresight on one of them. It plays well with Mothma. Admonition is a hard sell for me. 8 points to cancel one die at the cost of a token seems like it isn't worth it. I hear lots of people talking Admonition up though. Is it just that cancelling that one die might be the difference between life and death? Wouldn't Lando be a cheaper option with a similar affect?

Lando is a One shot. If you're only expecting to be shot at once, Lando is great. But Admonition has replayability :D

Normally, I default to this: (If Mon Mothma were not involved)....

At Long Range, Foresight allows you to Spend a Defense Token (Evade) and Remove 2 Die from the Pool...

Ergo - Spend Evade, Net effect: 1 Defense Token Spent, 2 Dice Removed.

At Long Range, Admonition allows you to discard a defense Token (anything) and Remove a Die from the Pool...

Ergo - Spend-then-Discard Evade, Net Effect: 1 Defense Token Discarded (because you Spent it to Evade, then discarded it) - 2 Dice Removed.

At Medium Range, Foresight allows you to Spend a Defense Token (Evade) and ReRoll one extra Die

Ergo - Spend Evade, Net effect: 1 Defense Token Spent, 2 Die rerolled.

At medium Range, Admonition allows you to Discard a Defense Token (Evade) and Discard a Die.

Ergo - Spend-then-Discard Evade, Net Effect: 1 Defense Token Discarded (as above), 1 Die Removed, one die Rerolled... (This effectively gives you the full Evade at Medium Range.)

At Close Range, Foresight allows you to... Do nothing with Evades.

At Close Range, Admonition allows you to Discard a Defense Token (Evade) and Discard a Die.

Ergo, Discard Evade (since at close range, Evades are typically useless anyway) - Net Effect, Discard a Die.

Generally Speaking - the points costs for Foresight and Admonition are very closely balanced... One allows you to double up on your effect at Long Range, Compromise at Medium, and do nothing at Short...

The other allows you to Double up at Long Range, Still get a Long Range Evade at Medium Range (on top of the Reroll), and lets you use a Long Range Evade at Close range...

Mon Mothma, of course, screws that Balance up completely.... So Admonition is not as good, and Foresight is More Powerful under Mon Mothma... But if you have any other General, their Points-to-Ability is fairly well balanced... You have redundant defense tokens on a Shrimp Frigate for a reason :D

Just something to throw out for consideration. I run one of my MC30s as a Torpedo with Redundant Shields, APT, OE, and XI7s. Makes for a very effective heavy hitter. Especially combined with Mon Mothma (my default go-to), and has proved very effective for me in the last several tournaments I've competed in.
