Interesting Twitch Tuesday tonight... (3 of the Top 8 from Roanoke)

By CDR Stele, in X-Wing

Tonight on Twitch Tuesday we will feature a casual game between local NOVA guys Ron Brannan and Jeff Faulkner.

I'll also be joined by Roanoke Regional champion Ben Kavanaugh, runner-up Duncan Howard and Top 4 finisher and 3x X-Wing World Champion Paul Heaver.

We will spend a little bit of time at the beginning of the show discussing what happened in Roanoke and talk about everyone's PoV on the Intentional Draw rule. We won't be staying on that for the whole show, however. We'll talk a bit about it and then move on.

Please join us at 8PM EST on the SteleEnterprises Twitch channel and join us in chat with your questions and comments. (There will be differences of opinion, but please keep things civil in chat)

As always, I'll be posting the recording of the show to the Stele Enterprises YouTube channel for viewing later.

I think you just might get your biggest turnout tonight Aaron.

Something tells me you might be right.

#9 will be watching

I only watch to see ira get made fun of, will that be occurring tonight as well? :P

Paul's POV was already stated by him that he doesn't like ID and thinks a draw should be decided on initiative. Be interesting to see if he's changed his view or not.

BTW, a true marketeer would hold that discussion until the end of the show, but I'm glad you are doing it at the beginning as it will be midnight for me and I'm an old man.

I can see to that

I'd like to hear their perspective, but one of those guests was pretty antagonistic in some of the comments he made on NOVA FB page. It was pretty abrasive and gave off a vibe that was both elitist and entitled. It was almost like watching a professional wrestler taunt his opponents with his title belt. I'm sure he's a normal dude just caught up in it like everybody else, and probably even a decent guy with a bad online "persona", but I don't know if I want to hear him open his mouth and remove all doubt. At this point, player perspectives aren't going to do much for me but get me really incensed.

So of course I'll be listening.

Worth hearing him out, I think. :)

What you really need is someone from FFG OP, that would be icing on the cake.

I've said it before, but there is a real culture gap between competitive people of different backgrounds and generations. What I see as amusingly over-the-top trash talk plenty of others see as genuine and belittling boasting. When it is over a text medium these kinds of misunderstandings are even harder to avoid.

Exactly why I asked them if they'd talk about it a little tonight!

I look forward to the show! I agree with IDs needing to go away or change, but I am not going to act like I wouldn't have done the same thing. Can't wait!

I'm not really selling anything. LOL. The Tuesday show is supposed to be fun and laid back.

Always one day behind Aaron! ;)

I look forward to it and am planning on being in chat to give Paul his chance to abuse me back after last night ;)

3 of the top talking about there perspective aka more nova circle jerking.

I really don't understand this attitude that everyone in the NOVA Squadron group is part of some hive mind. We do not have Party Meetings where we all decide what the Party Line will be. There are no NOVA Comissars enforcing adherance to the message.

Either tune in or don't, but your comment here helps nothing.

What I really want to know is if you have a secret handshake. If you don't, you aren't a proper organization and it's therefore pointless to tune-in.

People seem to think that NOVA squadron is the Kobra Kai of XWing. I don't get it.

It's completely absurd. It is primarily geographical. We have a large, active X-Wing community in the DC Area. We do not have some hidden agenda to conquer the world or sweep the leg. Silly.

You mean you openly say you want to conquer the world?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahaaaa....... clever one...

What list is Ron running?!?! I still have nightmares from his A wings at the Frederick SC.

Wait, circle jerking is still a phrase? What are you a 14 year old in the year 1998?

In all seriousness I will NOT be watching! Mostly because its our gaming night. So, you should come over to Odenton and cast one day! We usually can get around 8-14 people there and there is a secondary room in the store that you could take up shop in.

Hasn't a member of NOVA squadron already conquered the world thrice over?
