What happens in Swiss when 2 people are the only 2 people with the same score?

It occurred to me that draws, intentional or not, are the only outcome that leaves the game's players with the same number* of tournament points when it's over (both +1).

*If they started with the same number, that is.

Swiss rounds call for players to be matched randomly from the pool of players with the same number of tournament points (provision is made for an odd number of players).

They also stipulate that you should never be matched with the same opponent twice.

Now suppose you didn't wait until the last round to draw. Won't you and your opponent have the same number of tournament points in the next round, but any other players having that same total be incredibly rare (unless they also drew)?

What happens in the situation that you are the only pair? How is your opponent determined?

Which part of the Swiss round rules do you ignore?

They intentionally draw. Seems to work out ;).

No issue here, most important rule is:

They also stipulate that you should never be matched with the same opponent twice.

If the number of players with more points is odd : one of the 2 will be paired at random with a higher player and one with a lower.

if the number of players with more points is even: both will be paired with a random just lower player
