Some confusion about League kits, heavy with misinformation

By DorkYoung, in CoC General Discussion

I inquired at my local venue last night about getting a League kit for Call of Cthulhu. I don't have a league [yet], but I play whenever possible, and have been slowly attempting to open an entrance for this game into my small game circle. And, well, I wanna get some of this nifty league kit stuff.

Either way, store guy said "Sure" and seconds later, apparently, he has ordered one. What I'm asking, if anyone here is able to answer [which I sorta doubt], is which kit I'm most likely to get. I glanced over the laptop he was ordering from, and it looked to me like there was a picture of the Cthulhu faction pin and the poker chips, but most info leans towards the binder kit being the available one.

Might he have ordered an older kit from a more local distributor? [i'm in Canada]. Might that even be an option? Are the older sets still available because the binder league kit hasn't been released yet? It's pretty clear there's plenty I'm not understanding about the working of the organized play system here at Fantasy Flight. All I know for sure is that I really hope it's the poker-chip kit, 'cause that'd be a much better draw than a binder [not to disparage any binder-lovers out there]. That and the faction leader cards, which I feel could potentially be a neat little addition to home games.

I gotta figure that only the new kit is being sent out.

If I recall correctly, the new kit is just like the old kit except for two different faction pins and a voting form for the new Elder Sign promo.

ihave access to the FFG store, so i can confirm that it is still possible to order both kits.

So I guess I'll just have to wait and see which one arrives....
