This is nice. Because we ALL know how vital draws are to this game.
They are now. Like I said above, if this is true you're darn right I'll use it at any opportunity. If FFG OP wants a WAAC community, they'll certainly get one out of this action.

I fear you are correct. This will on exasperate the WAAC players to do anything in the first rounds to win.
This statement adds insult to injury!
What gaming morals are you trying to teach to young participants FFG?
What happened to the good all moral where "competing is more important than winning"!
If people want to ID their game then let them show their true colors, spend 75 minutes flying around in circles and spend some energy while doing that.
Do not reward them by letting them rest FFS!!!!

Winning is more important than competing, these are regionals for the top miniatures game.
Is there a link for the original statement?

I was not expecting any better statement from you. Move along folks, nothing to see here.
If this ruling stands it pretty much as killed any desire I have to play in large x wing events anymore. I will just stick to my local stores where the players think this rule is complete BS and actually go to tournaments to play x wing not take draws.
If draws were a common, naturally occurring thing in X-Wing, it'd be one thing. But they're simply not. So having a rule that allows you to artificially create one doesn't make sense to me.
We understand that intentional draws are a foreign or disliked concept for some players and fans of Organized Play, but it is our belief that they are a necessary inclusion to promote a fair play experience for all tournament players.
I clearly get the first part, but as of yet cannot understand the second part. That article needs to come soon and be awfully persuasive.

Glad to see you've stuck true to form there PGS....

Now we have one. Embrace the awesomeness. If it's true.

Agreed. I just wish they would take some time to look at each of their games on an individual basis and determine what the best option for each game was. But if they are going to lump a game that has a draw 1 in every 1000 games with games which have draws 1 in every 10 games, than this is what we get. If someone would just be willing to sit down for a couple hours and figure out a solution (this forum is rampant with them), this situation could leave everyone with a big thumbs up back at FFG instead of an extension of another appendage.

Even BB-8 is potentially annoyed.

"We know you don't like it. BUT YOU WILL."
I've defended this rule because it's a norm in other games but seriously I imaged it only applying to those already locked into the cut. Everyone involved in this players, judges and especially FFG should be ashamed of themselves. Colluding to deny others a chance in the cut by refusing to play is tragic. Two who made the cut had first round byes. Meaning they played a grand total of 4 matches and at least 1 only won 3 games to get there.
FFG has to mea culpa hard core and fix this
Edit: after looking at my previous posts I defended ppl who knew losing for both would be bad thus much like this situation however I never imaged 8 players doing so to lock everyone else out of a chance at the cut.
Edited by maniacmcgooIs this actually official? Or is it official because someone said the heresay they got was official.
Gonna suggest cooler heads until a proper official statement surfaces.
Well ****. I had been hoping I could finally make it to a big event but ugh. This sounds like the opposite of fun.
LOL @ chumps who couldn't win their way in demanding gimmies from the top tables.

You do realize that the multiple-time winning World Champion was one of the players that was part of the happenings at the tournament that dragged this into the spotlight, right?
No, well he was. He's hardly a "chump" who "demands gimmes". If you must snark, at least fact-check it first.
Well now I'm thrilled that I've already dropped nearly $300 preregistering for some X-Wing tournaments this spring and summer.
So if I'm almost in the top 8 before the last round I may as well pack up and go home? After all, it's legal for those other guys to lock in their prizes at game Y-1. Regardless of the fact that a tournament with X players is meant to go Y rounds? Great. Thanks FFGOP.
It is important to note that what happened in VA is not going to be the standard. It will normally be just the top table, who will get in no matter what.

No. As I doubt there will be exactly 6/14 players needed for the block.

And what exactly prevents it from becoming the norm?

Seriously? That's the issue in your mind? If you win a SC and go to a regional you skip round 1 so your first game is round two and you're already 25% into the cut at Roanoke. Win three of your next 4 matches and you draw round six yet you think you deserve a cut more than someone who pug themselves to the hazard by playing 6 rounds and winning 4 of six instead of winning 3 of 4? Reexamine your critical thinking skills because you're failing tragically

Math.

Fine, call it the top Z instead of top 8. Nothing says that this can't, and won't, happen again.
