GM Needs Fresh Ideas

By tnettoc, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

So first time here on the forums (although I browse as a non-member often) and I am in need of some scholarly, creative encounters for my current campaign. I will provide background information on the history of the group as well as any relevant facts appropriate to the story.

My group has been playing for almost a year now, every Tuesday night here in Indianapolis. Having played through two campaigns with an EotE party and a mixed EotE, AoR, F&D party my gang and I are running a purely AoR campaign. Since we meet weekly I don't want to start falling back on familiar tropes: Surprise inspection, Stormtroopers kicking in the door, pirates roaming the asteroid belts, etc... and that brings me here to the forums. We run our campaigns for 3 Seasons in an episodic Star Wars Rebels inspired way, Tomorrow night I am running the first part of Season 2 (having just finished Onslaught at Arda I in Season 1) and the party is about to have their much deserved 'leave-time' interrupted by Crix Madine of Alliance High Command.

Characters are...

1. Rush, a Duros Hotshot who's personality can be described in three words: Vain, fiery and obstinate. He has 5 Agility, 3 ranks in Piloting and believes he is THE BEST pilot in the galaxy. He flies an antiquated V-Wing gifted to him by a royal baron and he uses a pair of defender sporting blasters in combat with a high degree of success. Unfortunately he is very easily felled by anyone possessing a strong blaster and decent aim.

2. Broker, a Human Analyst/Recruit from Talus. His main motivation is the desire for uniqueness in everything he does and as a result he carries a molecular stiletto and am 'Equalizer' blaster pistol. He is not a combat character and supports the group with his computer and knowledge skills while serving as the face frequently. He is the voice of command among everyone and typically comes up with the strategies the group needs to succeed.

3. Mountain, a Mirialian Saboteur from the slave planet Ylesia. Believing she owed the Rebel Alliance for her freedom she became wrapped up in their cause. A believer in 'one-shot' kills she has modified a Model 80 Blaster Pistol to deal 9 damage with Piece 2 and a custom grip removing any setback. As her name suggests she is as big as a mountain and not afraid of anyone although she is extremely patient and kind to her friends.

4: Q7-LU3 or 'Loo' as he is know by his friends, A Droid Infiltrator/Pilot, having served in the Clone Wars this Q7 Astromech droid has a very driven personality and has even gone so far as to have a vocoder installed so he can speak basic. He also harbors a force pike for self defense and can be described as vicious when cornered.

The group pilots an E-9 Loronar Explorer craft which belongs to Broker and it has been custom fitted by the Alliance to incorporate a small docking enclosure to house Rush's V-Wing making capable of launching mid-flight. (Similar to the Ghost and the Phantom on Rebels)

With that all being described here is where Season 2 kicks off -

Episode Title: The Renegade Rebel

"During their well deserved leave-time the Agents of the Alliance are given an urgent assignment by the Alliance High Command. They soon find themselves on the hunt for a renegade rebel operative within the Corellian Sector who poses a threat not only to the Galactic Empire but to the Rebel Alliance as well."

Here is the structure of the Episode-

The party will receive their mission in the introduction and will begin their assignment on Talus. They are hunting a rebel operative who recently participated in the destruction of a manufacturing facility in Dearic which resulted in the death of thousands of innocent civilians. This operative was part of a cell that had been formulating a series of strikes against the Empire in the Corellian Sector and the information he possesses is extremely vital to the security of many. There will be three encounters, the first will take place in Dearic somewhere as they search for the operative - the first encounter should be avoidable. The second encounter will happen right before/after they meet the operative and the third encounter will conclude the adventure as they either leave Talus or are forced to ground by the encounter parameters.

I am not opposed to using any enemy/faction in this campaign. Bounty hunters would not necessarily be something I would put into the Episode since one of the characters already has a substantial bounty on his head (Rush). They do have a recurring enemy in an Imperial Sgt. named Korso who they captured but escaped in the Season 1 finale. He knows not their names but does know their ship and their appearances.

if anyone has any ideas please post here - I will be checking all night.

Thanks again!

1) was the rebel in question actually responsible for the explosion or was he/she set up?

2) what happened to the rest of his cell?

3) if guilty is this the first time they did this or should they be making sure they don't do that again?

4) if innocent who or what was responsible?

5) definitely have three different bounty hunters going after this Rebel, will your players try posing as another hunter to remain undercover if not how will they avoid being detected?

6) on whose side are the locals?

7) any imperial attention?

By that I mean is there an imperial warship in orbit and what kind of garrison do they have available?

Sorry just some questions to clarify what's going on!
