International Draw - poll - Sweden

By JimbonX, in X-Wing

I made a poll on a swedish facebook group "X-wing Sweden" (community for all X-wing players in Sweden) about FFGs "International Draw in X-wing tournament - in connection with latest news about a fiasco in Roanoke, where top 8 players intentionally used International draw to stay on top 8: http://www.notsuchabadpilot.com/uncategorized/a-word-about-the-intentional-draws-in-roanoke/

Question asked was: "Is it okay to use International Draw in tournament?"

Result from 10 april to 13 april:
43 said: "no"
40 said: "yes its a bad rule"
9 said: "yes"
3 said: "no cant stop it however"
3 said: "stop complaning"
2 said: "Ignore ID and eat cheesecake instead."

Total of 100 people have responded.

So more than half approved (yes) although a great many of those may have had reservations about it.

I'm not Swedish, but I can get on board with the cheesecake priority.

Love me some cheesecake. Those two guys are geniuses.

Why is it international if it happened in USA.

I do believe that the OP meant intentionally, as he also stated in his post.

Maybe that could be included in the tournament rules? You can choose to have an intentional draw provided (a) your opponent agrees, (b) the TO approves, and ( c) you provide the other players at the event with cheesecake.

StevenO: even though almost half is yes, that does not mean people like the rule. But it is allowed, so yes is a very valid answear to the question.

Aw yiss, 2 cheesecakes per ID, this is gonna be sweet!

Of course, it's still open to abuse. 2-3 intentional draws could essentially disable every other player at the event by inducing a diabetic coma.

"If it's legal, than it's okay for you to do it, but they shouldn't have made it legal in the first place."

It's a perfectly reasonable position to take.

THAT'S what you took from it?

86 think IDs are a bad rule.

9-12 were ok with IDs as a rule.

49-52 said basically that they didn't mind players doing it, though most of those only said so because it is in the rules.
