Mandatory reading for people that are angre over Roanok
Lame.
Still makes me angry about the fact that IDs were established in the first place
I would buy that player a shot.
Doesn't mean anything, frankly.
That was dumb
Good post OP, Thanks goodness tenth place has a blog we can all be enlightened from.
That was dumb
What is dumb is the amount of butt hurt that is happening right now. I love x wing but I think it draws in a bunch of knuckleheads that don't think rationally. What those players did was perfectly legal so stop being butt hurt and move on.
Good post OP, Thanks goodness tenth place has a blog we can all be enlightened from.
Either way, the blog post absolutely has a point: if ID is a problem, it's the system's problem. We shouldn't get upset at players who simply made the right call under the current rules structure.
My question is, "How many of the more vocal ranters actually compete above store level".
Edit: nice point Rawling, I apologize for adding more negativity to this whole situation.
I just really want to get back to the conversations about lasers and spaceships, not math and rules.

Whether it was the "right" call depends on perspective. Personally, it would be my preference to win off the game rules rather than through the tournament rules. At the same time, given that the whole Roanoke Incident was permissible under current rules, it is completely uncalled for to pass judgment on those who secured their rankings within the rules, simply because some may prefer other methods.
I have a preference for bourbon where others prefer beer or vodka, but there is no objective determination of who's preference is "right".
I'm pretty pissed about Roanoke
can you believe they never found all those settlers? They should have looked harder

Wow. We agonize for days over what they top 8 may have said and why they may have taken draws and how that affects the entire community, and then one of the players who was actually affected posts his feelings and we react like this?
Nice going, guys.
Since we're going to be discussing IDs in the next podcast you bet your ass we bought that guy some tequila!
Pictures to come.

Haha! Nice.
My comment may have been obtuse and that was not my intention. In fact, in another post where that blog was linked I mentioned finding it amusing and would be inclined to send along some tequila on principle.
My line of thought was apparently on one of the other threads about this topic and my line of reasoning and thoughts there. My above comment was from the mindset of how the problem with the wording (or more accurately the lack of wording) in the rules for IDs makes the process ambiguous and subject to abuse (not saying that happened here necessarily) and the fact that some (heck, maybe all - though I suspect not) of the players may have been fine with way the final round went down (or at least put forth that they are) does not mean that the system/rules/precedents regarding Intentional Draws is not in need of revamping. Or at the very least a few more words for clarification.
Oh no, it seems like the people going 'All the people there were furious and hate everyone in the top 8' didn't like the article. I wonder why?
Edited by jimmiusMy question is, "How many of the more vocal ranters actually compete above store level".
My question is - why does it matter? The rule affects all sanctioned tournaments - including store level.

Because I'd like to know how many of the commenters actually have a dog in the fight or in it to spread a little hate and discontent.
Already been linked and it didn't change my mind one bit.

Hate and discontent are my modus operandi. My regional last year was hot garbage and they prizes for this year suck but I still intend on going. If I get into the same position as 9th place I'd be pretty **** pissed if the top 8 can't even be bothered to play the final round.

So we just paid the pennance to talk ID's tonight on the podcast. Paul will be on as well. Gonna be a good time.
Derek, this is hilarious
Edited by KelvanPeople aren't so much angry for him as they are angry that this could happen to themselves
So while it's nice that he's not salty about missing out on Top 8 and he doesn't want people to be angry about his situation, that doesn't mean people don't have good reasons for being upset about what happened.
