My Deadeye blues.

By Hrathen, in X-Wing

I love the Deadeye upgrade. But it is super hard to find a place to make it work.

Sure the new contracted scout is a great option for it. But if I play them now I'm just a band-wagon-jumper. (I really don't want to buy three of them for one list)

But other than the Jumpmaster it is hard to find a place to put them. Deadeye lets those low PS ships get off their ordnance, bypassing the difficulty of getting a TL when you move first.

So what do you need to get something out of Deadeye, first of all it help the lower PS ship. Unfortunately, EPT usually only come on Higher PS ships. Also you need a ship that is good ordnance carrier. And for some reason these ordnance ships seemed to get less than their fair share of EPT. The only generics that have an EPT slot and any ordnance at all are TIE Advanced Prototype, A-wings, and Jumpmasters. Where are my deadeye TIE Bombers!

Gamma Vet?

T70 Red vet? Baron of the Empire? Nera Dantels? Horton with R2-D6? Alozen? Blount? etc etc etc...

Going to try Nera with proton torps, extra munitions and guidance chips for a while. Pairing with Kanan and Biggs might by fun.

Blount with IPM, assault, or adv homing missile.

T-70's can do it, but I don't like putting chips on them when I can put on Auto Thrusters,

Horton's and Blounts's PS's are already high enough that he doesn't really need Deadeye, Nera Dantels is awesome with Deadeye.

T70 Red vets are really versatile. They're my go-to when theorycrafting a Rebel squad.

If you're loading up your T70's with torps then AT might be a bit too expensive for a generic anyway. Guess it depends on your list. Also, turret threat should have been "significantly reduced" from your vets' alpha strike :)

An r2d6 Grey or any of the named Y's. Kavil.

Mandalorian Merc? With Homing Missiles, Slave I for Extra Munitions, and maybe... Dengar crew it could get pretty brutal hunting named pilots.

Though I'll be honest, Nera Dantels is the first one I'd reach for when I think of Deadeye. It's cheap(ish) and turns her into a nice anti-Ace turret.

Black Sun Aces can take a missile and an EPT, for 28 points you can have Deadeye, Guidance Chips, and Concussions or Clusters. You could also get a TPV with Deadeye, GChips, and a Proton Torpedo for 24 points.

I dunno about those options. I have been running Scum Z95s with missiles and chips a few times in the last couple of weeks; I haven't had less than three hits on any attack with them, though I have seen some TIE fighters just completely dodge the shots.

I like Black Sun Soldiers at PS3 with Concussions and Chips. Guaranteed two hits if you completely blank out and you can shoot before most TLT carriers. I have been running two of them with a third BSS with Proton Rockets who recklessly charges in to try and block and distract while the other two try to inch into range 3 to get their TLs.
