Heroes of the Aturi Cluster (and beyond)

By Tailsgod, in X-Wing

Hey guys I just found out about this and wondering if there were anymore campaigns like this out there? Maybe some with more roleplaying elements or such.

I also had this idea, and I'm not sure if its already happening or happened, but what if there was a forum where everyone got together and roleplayed out bits of the galactic civil war where eventually massive fleet battles could happen over vassal with each person being in control of his or her own star fighter and earning xp through massive conflicts of imp versus rebel with scum playing on whichever side wishes to pay them for help?
Maybe thats dumb though lol
Especially since I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around vassal...

For now though any other suggestions for games like HotAC?

The best i personally have managed is a local game where you integrate aturi with the Age of Rebellion RPG. You make characters and you can fight on the ground with the RPG but the space battles are done in X-Wing. a large-scale thing like you're suggesting would be difficult to pull off but not impossible. There would have to incredible, almost rigid structuring, with a clear leader of how things go down. I think the primary drawback ends up being the time it would take to do it, and the coordination required to make it work. Ambitious idea, though, and if you have some neat ideas i'd be willing to lend my hand in making it work.

I've gm'd pleanty of games before and I think i have an idea on how the whole thing could work

would pretty much be people sign up for factions then within those factions the faction leaders (determined by probably first come or whoever is willing to help on the larger scale) would organize the groups of people into different sqadrons and assign a squadron leader. Squadrons can pick and trade members to better strengthen their idividual talents.

and then either one or two things would happen

  1. the gm would get a galaxy map and divide it in two. Then the faction leaders would send each squadron to different planets to take over, with combat happening on planets where factions overlap
  2. or the gm would create mission cards and do 2 or 3 missions per cycle where the faction leader has to decide which squadrons should go to each mission

Scum faction would be a third party which would have no faction leader, and be run by their individual squadron leaders who can make deals with other sides for ships or munitions and fly either side

xp would work the same as aturi

and the game would end when the gm determines victory

that said, I am JUST graduationg college this year and have no time to organize such an endeavor, but if anyone would be willing to take this idea and flesh it out better go ahead I will gladly fly on the rebels side

They are working on a Villains of the Aturi Cluster...

Not quite what you're asking, but I've always wanted to run a tournament/league (probably on Vassal) where each player composes a 500pt fleet. Normal list-building rules apply (only one of each unique card, all the same faction, no Huge ships, etc).

Then, for each game, once the players have been matched up they are allowed to compose their 100pt list out of whatever forces they have in their fleet. Matches play out as normal, EXCEPT that any ships that are destroyed during match are no longer available to you- they're gone forever (an exception would be made for ships that flee the battlefield). The tournamant/league continues until only one player has any ships left.

I still haven't quite figured out what to do when a player has significantly less than 100 points left in his fleet, but still has SOME ships left. Probably allow them some generic filler ships (binayre pirates, bandits, or academy TIEs) to fill points until they are close to 100pts.
