Tentative Armor Crafting??!?

By Merua, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi after reviewing the Special modifications . i was quite frankly baffled that they didn't include a armor crafting table. so.. being bored i made a tentative one

I am hoping if i get yall's approval it will help me in my case when i bring this up to my gm ;o

Some of the qualities are already in game, made a few that would make sense in terms of armor

I've more or less extrapolated the data from the Modifications , and prices are 50% of what ud buy from store on the exception of Shell armor and Jedi battle armor because if your willing to roll that and spend that much credits well props.. personally i have no intention of doing so but i thought it'd be nice to add.

Armor crafting rules are in the Keeping the Peace F&D book.

What the actual?

Meh. If someone wants to buy "superfluous" splats for rules, fine, I can't stop 'em. But I don't care the game lines are compatible, each should provide what the others have, so I'll be expecting armor crafting in the Bounty Hunter's book.

I don't think they've duplicated any other rules expansions from the other splatbooks. They might have, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Counterpoint: I don't want the valuable space that could be given over to new mechanics and/or text wasted on reprinting stuff that you can easily get from other books. You want the mechanics, man up and buy the book(s).

I concur. They've for the most part stopped repeating material after people complained that AoR had too much repeated material. The only thing I've seen repeated since have been races.

I much rather the bounty hunters book have all new content. If you are one of those mythical people who only get Edge of the Empire in lieu of x-wings and Jedi then good for you. Either go with your house rules or buy the guardian book.

Though the first sentence of second paragraf in crafting chapter reads:

"The rules in this section provide GMs and players with options for crafting their own weapons, armor, droids, gadgets , and even cybernetics."

So it seems at some point someone was sure armor crafting was going to be part of the chapter. Both melee and ranged crafting takes 2 pages including the 2-3 pages for armor would totally have been worth the 1-2 $ extra price.

But I also have to admit the spreading out of just about everything is a bit of a pet peeve for me.

Don't get your hopes up - nor should you. That kind of attitude seems entitled to me - either buy the other books or don't, but demanding they be replicated isn't how FFG does things.

The Bounty Hunter book should have something new and different - perhaps rules for creating bounties on NPCs or expanding tracking rules.

In my experience FFG loves its beta testing. They probably put the armor crafting rules in Keeping the Peace to act as a mini-Beta test before dedicating 15ish pages to it in a book specifically about it.

That being said the rules are not that different. I bought Special Modifications and just browsed the Keeping the Peace book in the store to see the rules once or twice to memorize them. Probably not the right way to do it and not what FFG wants (they want me to buy another 25 dollar book) but I am OK with it.

I apologize I do not have keeping the peace yet and was unaware there was a tentative armor system already. i just acquired Special Modifications due to my interest in mechanics and presumed armor would be under there.

I mean... I know the rules...but I don't know if it would be right to comment on your accuracy/innaccuracy. I am new and don't want to anger FFG.

I will say this... Your interpretation is much more complex than the rules.

Snaps, thought FFG started selling them online.

Yeah, y'all might not want to go advertising that you pirate FFG books on the FFG forums. Just a thought.

You could legitimately buy a copy, scan it in, then OCR the scan, and keep that PDF privately. That should all be legal.

The problem would be if you shared that PDF with anyone. Or if you got copies of that PDF from someone else.
