How does the capture process work? If I choose to capture a character do I roll the spec ops dice of the capturing character versus the spec ops dice of target rebel unit? If the target rebel unit has no specs ops skill is the capture an immediate sucess? Can another rebel leader be placed from the leader pool to attempt to stop the capture?
Capturing
"Capture Rebel Operative" works the same as other mission cards. After the Empire reveals the card, the Rebels may assign a leader from the leader pool to oppose it. Then, both players roll dice equal to the number of skill points they have in the system that match the skill type of the mission (in this case, Spec Ops). Each side rolls for ALL leaders from their faction that are in the system, including the targeted leader, the leader sent to oppose the mission, and any other leaders that were already in the system from previous actions. If the Rebels have a leader in the system (which they ALWAYS will for "Capture Rebel Operative"), but none of them have Spec Ops skill points, the Empire must still roll and achieve at least 1 success result otherwise the mission fails. The only time they don't have to roll is if the mission is completely unopposed (ie - no enemy leaders in the system).
does this count for any mission or just capturing? That every leader there contributes with relevant skill points in ANY mission going on there?
Yes, you count EVERY leader in the system for every mission, to a cap of ten dice rolled.

ok. Makes sense. We actually played it very much like this. one thing though; the 10 die cap is actually a five die cap, right? no player can throw more than five die and 2 times 5 is ten. I'm i getting this right?

No, each player can roll a maximum of 10 dice. From the Rules Reference , page 9: "When resolving a mission, each player can roll a maximum of 10 dice total (dice color does not matter)."

In combat the die cap is also 10 per player: 5 black + 5 red.
