What is the best way to strip or prime the ships before painting. I tried painting my yv666 and it's not coming out right.
Painting ships
There's been a lot of discussion on this. Most people think stripping is unnecessary for two reasons. The first being the high quality of the paint FFG spec'd. The second is because a lot of what you see is not paint. The ships are molded in color. I have a bunch I'm getting ready to paint and tried stripping with little effect. One thing I found out is the wash they use comes off pretty easily with Simple Green or Purple Power.
What kind of paint are you using and what kind of problems are you having?
Use Army Painter Primer and Citadel or Vallejo Paints. Thin the paints with water and remember to color inside the lines.
I've found that holding the ship over a match works pretty good for stripping the paint. But yeah, they don't really need to be stripped. My random guess at the issue you may be having is that you're paint is too thick?

A match? Like, a lit, strike with cover closed match? Why?

It melts the paint right off. Also, the plastic.
Don't do it. It was a joke.

Okay. You had me worried for a moment. I was wondering if 'match' was some slang for a solvent mixture or some other bizarre way to strip paint.
