An expansion I'd like to see for Episode 8

By Rustedborg, in X-Wing

When Episode 8 arrives (not Rogue One, but Episode 8 that continues the story of Rey and Finn) I'd really like to see a single-ship "Resistance" expansion that is packaged similar to the first Scum expansion that includes one ship and multiple new pilot cards, dials and cardboard for several different ships.

The ship model included in this expansion can be the Millennium Falcon with a rectangular radar dish (as seen in episode 7) but it will include a new generic pilot for the YT-1300 that puts it "on par" with Scum's new Contracted Scout generic of the Jumpmaster 5000. The other pilot card for the YT-1300 will be a unique pilot; none other than Rey herself.

The remaining pilot cards and cardboard inside this expansion will be more unique pilots and maybe even another generic for the T-70 X-wing, and then a couple of new pilot cards and cardboard for other aging Rebel ships ... maybe a few new Z-95s with unique pilot abilites or an "upgraded Z-95" with the new Tech upgrade slot found on the T-70 and TIE/FO. We could also get new crew cards for Rey and Finn. This would also be a good place for the devs to add several new Tech upgrade cards since we only have two tech upgrades in the game at the moment and that upgrade category needs more variety.

Does that sound like something you would want or does it sound like a terrible idea for an expansion?

I don't care for any of the ST characters, so it doesn't really interest me.

How about most of what you suggest without another almost identical Falcon model... Maybe the shuttle Leia arrived in or the First Order troop lander and along with it a T-70 wih a black repaint.

Getting a box set with new cards is one thing but getting an almost identical mini that we already have one of is a waste.

Personally if we get more starfighters than just the X-wing 2.0 and TIE fighter 2.0 I would be happy.

Face it, The Force Awakens gave little to nothing of source material for X-wing and Armada. It is almost as if they forgot that Star Wars meant was in the Stars aka space. Well if the force awakened the star wars did not.

In the meantime Disney should let FFG milk every possible ship shown in Episode 7 from the 2 trooper shuttles and a new millennium falcon, Kylo Ren's shuttle and the 2 seater TIE-FO variant.

I find it somewhat ironic that the StarWars movies (at least since ROTJ) have been accused of being made to sell toys/merchandising, but the latest big budget film offered little which was toy worthy (save a tonne of uninteresting generic Aliens to be action figures, the line everyone said the old figures were scraping the barrel a bit).

Meanwhile the comparitivly cheap TV series (which was never going to get as much merchandising as the big budget entry) is providing a substantial range of moderately interesting designs.
