7 Ship Imperial fleet viable?

By specter02147, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello all!

I have been playing Armada for a bit now and I decided I'm finally ready to start playing in events.

I have been toying with the following list, switching up from my normal fleet (Imperial II, Gladiator I and 2 Raider IIs)

Ships:

Raider I:

Admiral Screed

Admiral Montferrat

Raider I x6:

Assault Proton torpedoes

Squadrons:

Soontir Fel TIE Interceptor Squadron

TIE fighter Squadron

Cost: 395

Objectives:

Precision Strike/Most Wanted

Fleet Ambush

Intel Sweep/Superior Positions

I currently have 3 Raiders and want to avoid investing in more if this is a total disaster in the making. Appreciate critiques/advice on both fleet makeup and objectives!

I know these ships are weak individually but I am hoping 3 to 5 guaranteed crits a round will help to even the odds while my fleet build will help with several objectives.

If you can fly them very tightly, and focus ships down individually while staying outside of others' firing range, sure.

If I ran into a list like this, I'd spread my ships out and make you pick which one you wanted, then attempt to flank with the others. You're always going to have more activations, but if I can sink 1-2 of them a round, I could still come out ahead.

Yeah, what he said. A buddy of mine keeps trying to figure out a 5 ship rebel fleet of frigates and corvettes and hasn't been able to get them coordinated to the point that they are a threat to my larger capital ships. I keep my fleet and squadrons together (for the most part) and his tends to get spread out resulting in me taking 1 or more a turn and then they're gone. You have to be able to maneuver them like a boss. One bump and they're at 75% hull. Hit an asteroid and draw structural damage and they're 50%. Perhaps Clone Trooper can give you some tips.

The cool thing about Armada is that **** near anything is viable... IF you can fly it.

I would probably crash all my raiders into themselves, but the unanswered activations could be brutal.

Another thing to consider-- Raiders are pretty much pointless outside of close range. With 7 of them, you're basically going to be using them as torpedoes; flooding the map with them, dealing damage, probably ramming your foes, then blowing up. The question is whether you'll get good trades.

The easy answer would be to drop 2 raiders for a tooled up Demolisher to give you a decent punch to start killing rather than damaging ships. A raider with APT can damage a ship but wont kill it straight away. But then this defeats the overall theme of the fleet.

To keep it all raiders I would drop one ship to make the others have a better punch with ACMs or Expanded launchers and ordnance experts. You could then look at Ozzel as an admiral maybe.

Thank all of you for the feedback! I will definitely be tweaking this for vassal shenanigans.
