Worries of a New Player on the State of the Community

By slowreflex, in X-Wing

Just a note.....those that come onto the forums for long periods of time are perhaps not the best examples of the guys (or gals!) in your local game shop. There are A LOT of X-wingers out there, but most in my local area don't really frequent the forums very often. So, the percentage of real players to those that come on here probably too often (like me) are a poor representation of real player base.

I've found that the majority of players on here are the more hard core tournament types. That tends to be the majority of the conversational tilt. Not all of them and if you are not into tournaments, you quickly figure out those of like mind when they answer your posts.

Personally, I'm more of a casual bent player, but have been tournament heavy in the past. Also, I'm starting up a new podcast soon with a couple of other guys that is all based on non-tournament X-wing. We practiced recording this weekend and have our intro almost done. We record the first episode next weekend. So...we are getting there. It's called "Shuttle Tydiruim" after the name of the Lambda Shuttle that Han tells Chewie to "...fly casual". Lots of ways to play the game besides tournament death match. We will go into it.
