Legend of Luthien

By Authraw, in Strategy and deck-building

I've been working on this deck for a little while now, and I think I'm at a place where I could use a fresh perspective on it.

It's a two-hero Noldor/Dunedain Secrecy deck featuring Aragorn and Arwen. You can find the deck (along with a little strategy info) here:

Strategy:

This deck is competitive in many quests--even those requiring some combat--but it excels any time it can simply leave enemies in the staging area or have other players deal with them. The goal is to drop into secrecy early and then stay there, dumping allies onto the board at steep discounts.

Mulligan for either a hand that can drop into secrecy turn 1 and then play some Secrecy cards down, or Elven-light. It's possible to stall out if you don't draw Elven-light, but once things get going this deck can usually stay in secrecy for a long time. Leaf Brooch and Elven-light make a fun combo!

When needed, use Tale of Tinúviel to help kill tough enemies.

Deck built on RingsDB .

One of the things I like about this deck is that it puts some cards to good use that I haven't used before: Leaf Brooch + Elven Light is awesome. Swift and Silent comes in handy when you only have two heroes, and in a Secrecy deck you can recur it as often as you like (incidentally it also combos well with Leaf Brooch). It's the first deck I've ever built where Rivendell Scout made the cut. I've even gotten good use out of Dunedain Wanderer--2 resources for 2 attack in Leadership isn't bad.

The deck's not as consistent as I'd like, however. Sometimes Elven-Light doesn't materialize and the whole thing stalls out.

Anyone have some ideas I could try to make this deck better?

Maybe add Gather Information? It smoothes your card draw by one card...

Thanks for the suggestion! I gave it a try, but I found that I was rarely willing to devote a turn of questing to fetching a single card.

I did have a bit of a breakthrough, however, when I was browsing through RingsDb and I came across this deck , which inspired me to try Taking Initiative and Galadriel to help get to Elven-Light a little faster. I had to drop Swift and Silent and Will of the West to fit them in, unfortunately.

It's still not perfect, but it's definitely becoming more consistent!
