should the quarterstaff have the two handed quality?

By pumpkin, in WFRP Rules Questions

seems a bit strange you can use the QS in one hand these days AND the defensive quality only take effect if you have it in your off hand...

surely it should really be two handed, and therefore will be in off hand (and main hand ) by default.

Also is it worth getting a FAQ/errata sticky thread going with the solid rules clarifications we know so far? how can this be set up?

There is the fast quality error, whereby it should read that a boon reduces recharge of an action by 1 and the clarification that A/C can be used to buy extra manuvers for npcs, has anything else been officially answered by FFG yet?

in addtion to the quarterstaff question, I'd like to see an answer to if invocation and piety are given free to starting priests in the same way that channeling and spellcraft are given to wizards, and on that note if someone moves into those careers do they also pick those skills up for free (I assume not) or do they need purchasing just like regular advances....

Hmm.. as for the 2-handed vs. 1 handed, I think that I'll use a similar rule to the spear or halberd:

1-handed, it is just an improvised weapon. 2-handed, it gets defensive, fast etc...

The rules are similar.. but not quite the same. I can't recall exactly how the spear worked.

I think that the rules infer that initiates get the basic prayer actions.

The spear description lists that it may be used with a shield (one hand), or with two hands to increase the damage by 1.

At character creation you get any Basic action cards that you meet the requirements for. The issue is that nowhere does it say that initiates start with (gain for free) the Invocation or Piety skills, which are requirements for the priestly action cards. Conversely, ToM says that apprentice wizards get Channeling and Spellcraft for free. So, in order to get the priestly basic action cards, initiates would need to purchase Invocation and Piety skills during creation.

If you move into a career later, you must purchase all action cards. A good example of this is mentioned when it talks about basic defense cards (I don't have a page reference right now though). The rules mention that if you don't meet the characteristic requirement for a basic action card, you don't get it. If you later increase your characteristic such that it meets the requirement, you must purchase the action separately. Similarly, if you move into a new career, you would need to purchase any basic action cards separately.

So, yeah, if you want to be a priest or wizard, you're best starting as one rather than going into it later.

There's some WEIRD cross posting or something going on today...

**** those random career generation rules eh!?

I wanna start as a priest of Sigmar. Sorry, it's rat catcher for you.....

Well, there is a side note that a group can always optionally choose their careers if they want, or be more restrictive and only pull 1 random career.

Personally, I'm letting my group pick a career if they want, or they can get a random draw-3 and choose if they want.

What page does it say this? A player of mine made an apprentice and we could not for the life of us find this anywhere.
