2016 Regionals Results

By MajorJuggler, in X-Wing

I really, really really hate TOME. Since the beginning of it's use we have seen less and less lists in juggler.

Thanks FFG. Obama!

FTFY.

I feel like I have way too much of everything and would still need a third Rebel Aces, 2 more Mist Hunters, and a third StarViper to own that list. (Already have 5 Kihraxz'sz'x'z's)

Maybe that's why Omega leader is so popular. One expansion pack and baam, you're ready to fly.

Weird. Two out of five regional wins so far and no one has cried "A-Wings are OP!". Has this forum gotten sensible?

Takes a while for the bandwagon to pick up speed.

But if A-Wings are a big new thing then it's just a Crack Swarm variant really.

Its particularly strong in this meta where you don't have to worry about chewing through high hit point lists. The combo of blocking and crackshot works well against palp aces who also are thriving now that u boats have driven out most of thier bad matchups.

Wait, PalpAces have a bad match up?

The A-wing is pretty awesome as a PRocket carrier, especially Jake and Tycho. I can't seem to find a good 32 point filler for my squad other than Ello Asty or Wedge. Arvel is 31 points using AWTP, PtL, PRockets and AT but I just don't trust him as much with PS 6 mainly because of Palpatine's Aces.

I'm surprised to have read through here and seen as many player-total restricted events as I have seen.

The one we're running, I've purchased/rented table space to get us to 166, and I've a rental company on emergency back up in case of more bodies needed.

If a shop can only hold 80, why not rent a hall for the weekend?

Graham's list at the Rochester regionals was:

2x Sigmas with enhanced scopes, Int agents and Stygiums

Whisper with VI, FCS, Agent Kallus, ACD.

That's sexy as hell.

Because that somewhat hurts the purpose of a store holding a Regional in the first place, which is to get eyes on their store.

And potential sales from all the traffic that day. Most stores also provide instore credit as part of the prize pool and since a lot of folks travel quite far sometimes to attend, they want to be able to spend it then and there.

The last "out of store" event I went to.... The store just loaded up their X-Wing merchandise and brought it with them to the rented out hall! Win-Win!

And scouts are **** good.

Not quite good enough to actually win , apparently.

Sure they are.

But, they aren't quite as prevalent as many shouted. The meta adjusted.

I think that was always going to happen. Whenever something new comes in it's a two step process - you see what gets torn down long before you work out what can be built in its place.

But it's hard to argue that their impact hasn't been utterly seismic. During Store Champs who would have called Rebel Regen as dead in the water, or that A-Wings were going to be the last ditch Rebel hope? That the PS war is basically over is a massive achievement that's almost entirely down to the Jumpmasters.

Ahhh don't tell anyone how you took Hoth with 3 scouts and a 3 point initiative bid. The secret might get out.

But, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Shifts happen. It just needs time to see the long range impact.

If a store has to limit attendance, though, it probably shouldn't be holding the event.

Just feels like some players are really losing out on this.

I get denied M:tG events regularly because I can't accommodate 300 (I could, but not comfortably) I'm about 90% sure the only reason we received a Regional was our available gaming area.

Plus, as stated above, bring merchandise with you to the event - lots of stores out here show up at conventions or large Magic events, and sales sure don't seem to suffer.

Ah well, apologies for derailing, just didn't expect to see so many caps.

I love the idea and execution of Boba Fett. I am a bit peeved that his most obvious application is on the OMGOPFFGPLZNRF-list-dujour of triple Jumpmasters.

Here's hoping that Rebel Vets, or Wave 9 bring something interesting for Rebels to add to the current meta. I'm glad to see Jumpys making PS4 relevant again for once. Glad to see Jumpys making regen a less viable strategy (ugh). Reeeeaaaaally interested/trepidatious (serious forum spell-check get a vocabulary, sheesh) about Tie Defenders following Imp Vets.

If Imperial Vets hits before worlds, what % of players run an Imperial list? I'll say the over/under is 65%.

We've got a store in my area that got a Regionals. They say they can fit 250 players but I'm extremely skeptical of that claim. Last time I was there they had 46 players for a store championship and it took up a sizeable portion of their gaming space.

They also refuse to take any pre-registrations.

We will finally put an end to their insignificant rebellion.

You have a few UK dates missing..

Depends on the cap I guess. A store that can't handle fifty people shouldn't get a regional. Expecting stores to rent halls puts a huge dent in prize support. Running an event in house helps the store put 90-100% of the fee into prize support.

I updated the date/location placeholders with the data that FFG recently updated.

You have a few UK dates missing..

FFG hasn't posted them. If you have a list, please share. :)

3rd June is UK Games Expo, Birmingham - 128 players

10th July is Beanie Games, Stockton - 76 players

I'll find the other dates I know of and get back to you
