2016 Regionals Results

By MajorJuggler, in X-Wing

And Sable was the only player with a perfect 30 TP after 6-round Swiss.

Crack swarms are beastly.

It is thrilling to see munitions so prevalent. I finished a pitiful 93rd with a wonky list of 2 Procket Barons and Krassis with Fleet Officer, Tractor Beam, Seismics and Concussions. It was fun, but desperately needed Imperial Veterans for a Long Range Scanners mod on Krassis. Twice I got the sweet combo of tractoring an enemy ship into R1 for a Procket one-shot. But then I had my fair share of Vader, et al. One-shorting my Barons with Prockets.

A well run tournament and a great day of Xwing.

Top 16 Cut from the Pennsylvania regional day 1!

5. Tim Norman - Rebel Aces (Three X-Wings)

6. Jesse Tonka - Double Uboats and Zuckuss

7. Matt Kissh - Brobots

8. Zackary Bast - Rebel Aces (Poe/Kyle/Jake?)

9. Evan McKinney - Scum Two Ship (Tel/Bossk)

10. Travis Johnson - Doom Dec

11. Miguel Justiniano - Crack A's

13. Rose Strickland - Palp Aces

14. Ron Brannan - Palp Aces

Sorry of lack of details, they are still setting up for elimination rounds.

I'm also on my phone.

Winner of Plano (Dallas) Regionals was Sable Gryphon. List:

Last Winter's Night

Omega Leader + Juke + Comm Relay

Wampa

4x Black Squadron Pilot + Crack Shot

Top 2:

Howlrunner + Stealth Device + Crack Shot

Omega Squad Pilot + Crack Shot

4x Black Squadron Pilot + Crack Shot

I'll see if I can dig up more details, but that's good for now.

Other Top 4 were a triple u-boat list and Blount/Tala missile swarm (I assume...two remaining Talas had a Ghost down to one hull in the final minutes when my body gave up and demanded sleep, so I left).

Top 8 included:

Poe/Miranda/Stresshog

Ghost/Miranda (k was loaded with bombs and Sabine, with TLT)

Wedge/Biggs/Jan

Ghost/Dash

Top 16 included (memory is foggy):

At least 1 more TIE crack swarm

At least 2 more triple u-boat lists

Seems like a couple more Ghost lists

A couple more rebel 3-ship lists

As far as I can remember, I didn't see any Palpmobiles make the cut, but there was one Chirpy Whisper list, so maybe Palpatine was lurking there.

I had Boba and Dengar in the top 16, lost to Miranda/Lothal.

Scout w/ Proton Torpedoes, R4 Agromech, Deadeye, EM, GC.

Scout w/ Plasma Torpedoes, Overclocked R4, Deadeye, EM, GC.

Also, the guy who had a z swarm in the top 4 is named Bobby.

An incredibly interesting note that out of 60+ players, I believe only one, yes, one player brought triple Uboats, and I never even saw him so I can't even say this is for certain true. I didn't think there was any triple uboats until someone told me otherwise.

Utah man. They are anti-meta hard core.

Well, maybe not. Still a good bit of Palp it seemed. :)

There was indeed a triple u-boat list, I played against it round 2. I saw 2 lists that had 2 U-boats + 1 extra (a slaver in one and Zuckuss in the other, I believe). I think there were only about a half dozen Palp aces lists. 1 crack swarm that I heard of but didn't see. Everything else was different. A lot of variety, which was awesome. :)

  • IG88-B, Push the Limit, Advance Sensor, Mangler, Autothrusters, Title, Feedback Array
  • iG88-C, Veteran Instinct, Fire Control System, Heavy Laser Cannon, Autothrusters, Title Feedback Array

For the brobots, B had Advanced Sensors, PtL, and Mangler; C had FCS and VI.

I brought VI to counter Dash just in case but didn't see him.

I got extremely lucky and snuck into the top 8 after pairing with a 4 and 1 and beating him allowing me to beat #9 by 9 MoV being the top 4 and 2 player.

My feedback worked great not losing to a single imperial aces.

I missed my block vs Dan and he lit up IG-C with two R2 shots from Corran causing 4 shields a crit (stunned pilot). IG C then died the next round with Biggs only down 2 shields. At that point it was just a matter of time.

I'm told the full Mountain View results will hit List Juggler. I just wanted to get the rough outline posted for the curious. There were 96 players.

The results from the Warsaw regionals (46 people) are already up with some lists still missing: http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourney_id=1734

The meta was really weird, almost no U-Boats and lots of mine/bomblaying K-wings to deal with the Aces. There were 3 lists with bomb K-wings in the top 8 (I think one of the missing lists is double K-wings, basically a mirror of number 4 and the other missing list as of now was a Super Dash / Ghost combo).

The finals were Palp Aces with Omega/Inquisitor Wampa vs. Miranda Corran with Rebels winning the match :)

Winner:
Miranda Doni + Twin Laser Turret + Extra Munitions + Sabine Wren + Ion Bombs + Cluster Mines + Advanced SLAM + Conner Net
Corran Horn + R2-D2 + Fire-Control System + Push the Limit + Engine Upgrade
(99)

Top 2:

Omicron Group Pilot + Emperor Palpatine
Wampa
The Inquisitor + Push the Limit + Tie/v1 + Autothrusters
Omega Leader + Juke + Comm Relay

i use that Miranda list to quite good effect just with VI instead of PTL I'm glad a list I'm familiar with won, any ideas if its on youtube?

Unfortunately, it was not recorded.

The Cracow Regional (18-19th June) will be streamed.

Unfortunately, it was not recorded. The Cracow Regional (18-19th June) will be streamed.

It depends on the Internet connection quality available in the Venue, and afik there is no optical fiber cable connection. But the worst scenario is recording instead of streaming and putting it on YouTube.

So, did the #1 seed after Swiss drop?

#1 seed after Swiss was one of the guys with an incorrect list and got DQ'd. Only came up after a list check discovered it when we came back on the second day for the Top 8.

Interesting use of a Bumpmaster and 3 Syndicate Thug TLTs. I thought that Triple Scouts drove TLT Y-Wings into extinction, but apparently they are just in hibernation.

There's actually a bit of history behind that list. About 4 months ago Jason was a very average player who wound up on the Queensland team that had been organised for an Australian team championship. We tasked him with flying Quad TLTs and basically planned to throw him under the bus to get favourable matchups elsewhere. However, in the leadup to the championship Jason worked his ass off practicing; by the time of the event he was as close as I've seen to a master Quad-TLT player and ended the day with an enviable 6-1 record.
Afterwards he understandably didn't want to just throw away all of the experience he'd built up with the list, but needed to find a way to give himself a chance against Scouts. After some trial and error he discovered the BumpMaster and ran with it all the way to the final table. :)

Finally finished typing up the results of the Queensland, Australia Regionals. We had 58 players, by far the biggest event we've ever had in the state. :)

Played him a few weeks before at a store championship and demolished him. Played him in the Swiss to a perfect draw, then on day two, he was really focused, and did well to keep up the incremental damage for the win.

Really hate TLTs but usually I can fly against them because I can force mistakes out of my opponents. I was unable to do so against Jason, and after a few bad dice I was on the back foot and of course TLT can keep up the increments.

Bit disappointed I never got to play any of the other top 8 but really felt it was a really good game. Bumpy was driving me nuts tho, like a mad caravan driver on a highway, traffic was a mess.

If he drop Intel agent and APL, he could get 3 overclocked r4's in.

These past few regional results posted have been very diverse. Wonder if players are finally figuring out the Scouts and Palp, or just simply getting bored of them and bringing something else.

I was just thinking that myself. I certainly wasn't expecting to see a Jake/Poe/Kyle list winning a regional, but it makes me happy to see my favourite A-Wing pilot doing well! :)
