2016 Regionals Results

I was going to ask that. You should have gone for Soontir first.

I am going to blame Paul Heaver (not really). I was listening to Nova Squadron after Worlds last year when he was discussing strategy against Palp Aces where you have the shuttle, Soontir and some other thing. He said to kill the other thing first. It didn't work...odviously.

Too be fair, you were taking the shots you had. Soontir did not appear to be a target so you had to take the shuttle.

As strong as the imperial dominance has been recently. It is still good to see most imperial ships are competitive again (except bombers) even if by competitve it's only 1-2 named ships from each ship type.

Advanced, tie Ln, interceptor, tie fo, adv prototype, shuttle, tie phantom, and Decimator (and soon tie defender maybe the bomber as well)

At least 9 competitve ships! That's some decent internal balance even if it's mostly just named ships.

I agree, although I'd be hesitant to use the TIE Phantom these days. Whisper is great, but I see too many pilot skill 10+ guys (Poe, Vader, Dengar, etc.) that it kind of puts her on the back burner for now. She doesn't last very long with only 2 defense dice -- even with the emperor's help.

Ya but she can deal with them.

Up against a ps 10 ship?

Agent Kallus.

Now play smart and you wont take any dmg.

Unless you roll all blanks.

One focus is all you need to negate dmg.

Whisper is a beast in the right hands regardless

Sorry but Kallus doesn't help much when Whisper only has 2 defense dice and she's facing 3-4 hits coming her way.

Plenty of regional results indicate that Whisper with Kallus can hold her own just fine. My top 8 finish included.

Not to mention the Hoth Open.

If your opponent hits you with 3 attack dice I've seen whisper on lots of occasions stop all 3 with only two green

And if your letting them get range 1 shots on Ya, while decloaked, then your doing something wrong

Yeah, Whisper has 15 or more Top 8+ finishes, most with Kallus. It's baffling to me that people don't see that...

The math works out like this, for those that aren't understanding how Whisper survives. Whisper takes an evade, pair it with palp and Kallus and you have very likely have three evades against that PS 10 ship even with two dice.

Both times I faced Deroche I was beating him until he killed Tel first, then Bossk fell shortly after.

Told you smart players would take out Tel first. ;)

EDIT: Wait, I might need to rephrase that: I think I just called Deroche smart. ;) ;)

Brobots: 4 (One of these used Attanni Mindlink)

Scum Two Ship: 2 (Both used a Firespray and a JumpMaster, no Ordnance)

No Archtypes: 4**

*Some might consider these lists part of the 'Two Ship' build as many people will simply keep the ship with the Phantom Title docked throughout the game.

**Note: There is such a wide variety of ways to build a Scum list, it can be difficult to describe how a list should 'fit' in an archetype. These lists (one of which made it to the Top 8) cannot fit into the 'typical' ideas of what we would consider an archetype.

You can tell how long a person has played when they list han and 3 Zs under no archetype.

be nice

Sorry, it's just not a thing I'm used to seeing!

Still, the three Scyks were able to take out Vader and the Shuttle.

There are not a lot of imperial players in the local meta. Sterling is VERY good with that list.

That he is. The funny thing is I'm not sure I've ever actually PLAYED against his palp aces. Seems like the tournaments he makes I miss, and the ones I make he misses. The rare occasions we've been there at the same time I'm not sure if I've ever actually gotten matched up against him. Which is sad, cause I have some lists that would love to kill his soontir for him...

Really glad to see Zuckuss doing some good work this Regional season. He was ignored for a while, but it looks like people are catching on to how painful his attacks can be.

It went out of favour rather quickly (sadly to be replaced by Han/Horn and Fat Decimator lists, dark ages). But Paul Heaver won 2014 Worlds with it, which made it the Fat Han standart.

Oh, I had no idea. I'll edit in.

TBH, I wouldn't. If it's not an active Wave 8 archetype that a bunch of people are using I wouldn't bother listing it... it's in 'Other' and breaking them all out actually risks telling you less about the performance of a subset of "not the Wave 8 meta lists".

Not quite sure how almost a year of play is "quickly". It has more play time then most wave 7 lists. So I don't quite see where you are going with that.

Oh Fat Han was with us a long time, but the escort was changed from 3 Z-95s to a single strong ship pretty quickly if I recall correctly, creating a Fat Han+ archetype.

I'll do a compromise, then. I'll mention it was a Fat Han build. Also, fun fact, only 3 people used the old damage deck.

That was, and still is, based purely on local meta. Both saw play, and the 3Zs still do.

Made a thread in Battle Reports, seemed appropriate.

In case it hasn't been updated already, the Murray, KY regional had 52 people, not 54. Also, 13 people used their store championship bye.

That wasn't for a Regional. I think he was just adding info about the player, Joe T., that went undefeated in two regionals with 2 Blue Novices, 2 Bandits, and Biggs.

I "Joe Castiglione" made top 4 at Greenfield Regional running the following:

Dash: PTL, Kanan, engine, outrider, heavy laser. Lothal Rebel: Han, Hera, FCS, Auto blaster.

Nathan "the kid" won the event with Imp triple aces.
