ISD's sitting crooked

By archeonlotet, in Star Wars: Armada

My Star Destroyers all sit crooked in their stands. Does anyone else have this problem and/or know of a way to fix it? The problem seems to be with the slot attached to the ship because if I take them out of the stand and sit them flat on a table, they are still crooked.

I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered but I couldn't find anything using the forum search.

Are the plastic connecters (in the ship's belly, to put the stand in) loose? I had this with one of my Star Destroyers; the connector came off with the stand once. In that case you can easily glue them in.

If you mean, it is cocked about 1 degree high on the right/low on the left, yes. One of the two I have on the stands sits like that.

The problem is indeed with the connectors you're referring to, but they are not loose. I do know the issue lies with how these connectors are seated. If I take the ISD and sit it on a flat even surface so that it rests on that connecting piece, the ship lists slightly to the right (If you are looking a it from behind the engines). I have three of them and they ALL do it so I am hoping someone has some good suggestions on how to fix the issue.

I could attempt to bust the connecting piece off and realign it but I'm not sure as to the safest way to do that.

Mine are the same - tilted a few degrees. The connectors are solid in place, so that's not the issue. Maybe it's the stand that's warped slightly.

They were probably glued at an angle. I've been able to pry mine out with pliers, clean out all the glue and then reglue them.

I've tried them in different stands. All of the "key" shaped connectors are universal so one could use victory/gladiator/mc80/etc stands in the ISD. The problem is definitely with how the connector is seated in the model.

I will probably have to go with this method. Thanks for the input!

Be careful, I had one snap off trying this. They do not come out as easily as the VSD, or GSD.

I'll use caution but I don't think I have any other recourse. FFG customer service has been completely unhelpful when I've contacted them with problems in the past.

I'm thinking the problem is accentuated by the shape/size of the ISD. Even a couple of decrees of tilt would be clearly visible, whereas on the Space Cucumber you would not notice at all.

Anyway, I't not a huge deal for me - I just pretend they are trying to fly casual. Ya known, without looking like they are trying to fly casual.

Archeon, perhaps Admiral Ozzel had one too many Jamesons before he got to the "wheel"?

You seem to be having a lot of issues with your big ships. Listing ISDs, rattling MC80's.

The Nebulon-B from my starter set seem to yaw a bit off center. I was thinking of hitting it with a heat gun for a few seconds to try to correct it.

This is true. I did solve my ISD problem last night without resorting to surgery though. I held the ISD secure in the flight stand while leaving the stand in the base as to get good leverage. I then proceeded to bend the flight stand like a boss. I had previously tried this before but had done so with kid gloves, not wanting to damage my ships. This time I was not so gentle and it paid off. My ISD's are no longer listing lazily to one side.

Be careful with this method. I've found reports that heat guns have caused the smaller pieces of various ships to curl.

Why not just always deploy on the left hand side and steer right? Sure it may not be tactically advantageous, but it'll look good.

Is there any other way to do anything, except, as you say, like a BAWSS!! You gotta be firm with those ISDs, lazy grey bastards that they are.

Admiral, say again your last, over?

Archeon: How bad were your ships listing? I called for a parade inspecton of my Imperial fleet last night and found.....MY ISD's were also listing starboard by a very small amount...maybe like 1 or 2 degrees.

You should start your own Armada blog Admiral.

We could call it Nelson's Column.

It wasn't terribly awful but it was enough to irritate me. 1 or 2 degrees sounds about right.

Mine doesn't do ANY sitting now!
