Kath Scarlett and Morallo, the Ace-stomper build

By player1723238, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Morallo Eval-Heavy Laser Cannon, Zuckuss, Dengar, 4-LOM, Inertial Dampeners, Anti-pursuit lasers.-49

Kath Scarlet-VI, Tractor beam, K4 Securuity Droid, Engine Upgrade, Glitterstim-49

I tried out a different version of this list with a plasma torp on Kath instead, but I feel like this would be much more effective. Run Kath and Morallo together in a corner, tractor bea someone(hopefully onto a rock) and then open up on them with Morallo hard. Then Kath can use the butt-gun after the initial joust and has a tool to deal with late-game aces a bit better, or at least make them fly more carefully to avoid rocks. This Morallo does disgusting things to Imperial Ace pilots though, it's honestly ridiculous. And sure he never gets actions, but he has Dengar which is decent enough. He also has Anti-pursuits to make sure someone at the end of the game has to be very careful about bumping him when staying on his butt. Let me know what you guys think!

I can see that Morallo being powerful, but without engine upgrade, a savvy player should have little difficulty getting behind him and just staying back there (he might have to circle around a bit to avoid bumping, but its very do-able). So yeah, the list will be effective against players who can't figure out how to escape Eval's 180 arc, but for those who do, there's not much you can do about it (unless your opponent is really not able to see through the ol' 'stop 2 turns in a row' trick...)

Like the list. But have to agree that players that know the YV's weakness will take advantage of it.

Dropping APL and putting EU on instead will help solve this, especially around end game turns where you can position Kath to help cover the YV's rear.

The problem is that with this YV, I'm gonna be stressed to hell. To be honest when I was running this my opponents were so scared of Morallo's damage output that they focused him down first every time. I tend to let kath fly by people to use the butt-gun and that tends to make people focus on the YV and try to surround it and stuff. And he was getting bumped constantly, he's there to bring down High PS Aces, preferably before they get behind him, and there's not much better for that than flying right where you know they're gonna be and making them take a die.

I suppose the main weaknesses I feel this will have is against aces with a fair amount of hull. A Poe or something like that who can joust in, get behind the YV and then regen his shields while shooting it in the butt.

Ace stomper + no feedback = does not compute

Hmm ya feedback array might be a decent idea... I just really like the Inertials on the YV, and glitterstim has saved my ass against swarms quite a bit in the past for the initial joust.

Feedback Array is better than APL on a YV. I run a build with both, and I use Feedback Array four times for every one I use APL.

What crew do you use with your build with both feedback array and APL? I was contemplating a build with both of them using zuckuss, 4-lom and possibly navigator for an even 50 points. I was thinking that 4-lom and zuckuss would maximize the heavy laser cannon results for the price of stress and ionizing yourself. It doesn't seem like its too hard to figure out where the YV-666 next movement will be anyway.

That was my thought. You need Dengar instead of Navigator though, for rerolls, since you have no mods on 4 dice otherwise which is... Bad. I actually ran a Bossk with VI navigator and maneuvering fins. It was fun being able to 3-hard and then switch to any bank or turn but I usually ended up doing the maneuver I was thinking of doing anyways. Its not as good as just doing more damage.

Yes, Dengar is my third crew member on top of 4-Lom and Zuckuss.

Have to say just a basic trandoshian slaver with dengar, 4lom, Zuckuss and feedback and/or APL is a great little ace-killer. I'm not sure you need to sink more points into it than that. I've been running this for a while and I'm totally in love with this ship.

Dengar is probably my favourite crew yet. When I'm not using him as a pilot I'm **** sure putting him on a ship if I got a crew slot. This build is interesting. I think I'll try it out some time to see. Admittedly I'm not a big user of illicit upgrades (although I know they're quite popular) but I figure I should give them a chance and see how they work for me.

I ran something similar to this with a Heavy IG and a Beefed out Tel that was throwing out some heavy red dice. I might post it here if I get time.

What do you usually run with that? I ran Morallo with HLC because it makes that ship REALLY hurt and I felt like a Z wouldn't be as good as just doing more damage with the YV.

I've been running Manaroo with the typical U-boat config and N'Dru with cluster missiles.

That's a DEADLY list gonna try that this week.

I have tried this version and it is beastly

Kath

-Predator

-Dengar

-Engine Upgrade

-Mangler

Moralo

-HLC

-K4

-Outlaw Tech

-Feddback Array

I tried Bossk at a tourny today. It's way better. Like WAY better than Morallo. I stuck Wired and a Mangler on Bossk and he is a death machine. With all those rerolls you can get crits naturally quite often. Kath of course kicked her usual amount of ass with her Butt gun. Running them in a line with Kath in the back is pretty **** good, since she gets TLs anyways from greens and then can usually 4-straight our 3 hard out of the furball. I went 2-2 against some stiff competition. Not bad for my first tourny haha.

In my meta here we pretty much skipped right over 3 U-boats and went straight to 2 with the Slaver with Dengar, Zuckuss and 4-LOM. It is pretty murderous on Aces. Especially for its cost.
