So basically you are losing Kallus and Omega Leader (from the extremely popular Palp + Whisper + OL list that's going around atm) to get wampa + mauler? I'm not sure that's a good substitution...

I'm not sure either. I'm mostly interested in getting more ships in a squad.
I feel like wampa plus ______ is probably a decent decision.
If you want a 4 ship squad, there's that other standard list that's going around:

I mean, saying "standard list" sounds a bit derogatory, but like, no shame in practicing a good list, getting good with it, and flying it better than the opposition. It's known because it's solid all the way around. If you're interested in a 4 ship imperial list, why not that? It's got a lot going for it.

I recently won a store tournament with this list. Wampa+Palp did insane amounts of work. 1st game wampa killed corran horn on 3rd turn, 2nd game wampa killed Inquisitor and Soontir, 3rd killed Inquisitor, Vader,4th was vs uboats, wampa hung back, didnt do as much.
After seeing the results in Virginia I think you can take whatever you want as long as you practice a lot.
The deflector system and hull on Palp mobile adds(potentially) something on the order of 4+ hull. And it's 6 points. You could grab a shield upgrade on wampa for 4 and have the points for more shuttle upgrades, Yorr/Jenden. Or just be zany and live on the edge with a 6 point PS bid.
