New player here, So I have only had my gear a month or two. But two of the pin receptacles have broken off the model already. One of my Z-95 after a few uses. A K wing broke literally after the first use. Of course, I have used super glue to put them back on. Is this normal? Is there something better than super glue?
Pin receptacle breaking off model
I'm very careful with handling the bases and haven't had any breakage problem's. I did however pull out one of my first Tie Advanced to find the peg missing from the model and I have no idea where it went or when it came off...
Ive had a couple receptacles pull out from the ships. Super glue seems to work fine. Just make sure that the glue coats all the sides of the receptacle before you re-install.
On a couple of the large ships I've noticed small stress cracks developing in the receptacle. Fortunately they haven't broken all the way through. Clear styrene is more brittle than colored styrene. Maybe FFG should have opted for a colored piece for more durability.
It happens from time to time, the Achilles Heel... One advice, never remove the peg from the ship. Remove.it from the base to change the bases, but never touch the ship's junction point
Happens fairly frequently. If it's a manufacturing defect, their customer service will normally send a replacement model.
But equally, it's an easy enough fix if you have some superglue, clippers, and the right sized drill bit.
Be carefull with new ships. If they don't let the peg loose just wait and store them assembeled. Over time the hole on the ship will expand which then makes it at some point possible to remove the peg.
You have to break a few before you learn how to handle them without snapping one off. K-wings are worse just because of the shape.
It's a sign that you should switch to magnets!
