Why no love for Zuckuss?

No question the JM5K is the best ship out of wave 8. But why has the G1-A (especially zuckuss) fallen by the wayside?

I have flown him several times. Both on table and on vassal and he has always pulled his weight. Granted he is not as manuveralble as vader or fel but with adv sensors and a barrel roll he can keep people in arc very consistently. Plus he hits like an 18 wheeler.

So i ask the community. Why no love for this (imo) wonderful little ship? Why is zuckuss not considered to be a viable option?

The main reason I'm not considering running Zuckuss is that I love him too much as crew. A Slaver with Dengar, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM can reliably hit just about anything.

g1-a zuckuss is fine, but he's a glass cannon. He's not overpriced like the b-wing pilots, but he still clocks in at a hefty 33 for vi + dengar + title and he dies crazy fast. He's certainly no soontir/vader etc in that he simply can't take damage

I think he is the best carrier for the Boba crew with his extra dice giving increased chances of that crit.

Wrong. Crits are canceled after hits so his ability increases the chance of dealing a face up damage card is significantly.

Why no love for Zuckuss? Seriously? Have you gotten a close look at him? No wonder his partner is a bug-eyed droid. You need those multi-faceted lens to break up the image just to tolerate him.

Depends on how many modifiers he has. Dengar+Focus will hit a lot harder

Just like defender can have Focus+Evade. So, in the end, it doesn't matter much, the basic is a 0.125 damage increase.

I like him, but he is one of those ships that you want to throw a lot on, but he just doesn't carry the weight well. There are better options to stack with upgrades that have much better survivability with the same damage output.

Scum and Villainy is unfortunately a faction dominated by large base ships. Competitively speaking it's often difficult to run fighters unless they are TLT Ys or Z-95 filler. Triple toilet seats being a powerful build doesn't help.

Only if you're attacking someone with fully modified attacks. If you have a focus and TL (I usually run him with FCS) and your opponent has no token (or you have 4lom crew to ignore it), it's significantly more than that.

One of these days I'll get around to testing my GGGH list against triple u-boats to see how it goes.

I haven't used tractor beam much, but the barrel roll is nice!

4LOM w/Zuckuss, PtL, AdvS, Title. That handled most lists quite well in the Hoth open, secured 1 whisper kill, sure I stressed myself to hell but I killed a much more vital ship. The stress control and maneuverability 4LOM grants the misthunter is amazing. Even if there are no enemy ships, you can easily keep a friendly to pass that stress off to.

I took it a step further. Added 4LOM as another ship, gave both juke, sensor jammer and k4 security droid. 4lom and zuckuss both use evade actions, palob steals a focus from the target, then both G1As shoot them with target locks to modify their attacks, juke to cancel out one of the evade dice, and on defense get to change a hit to a focus.

Exactly - it's as if the crew/pilot pairings were designed to work together...

You don't have to use it on every shot - think of it as opportunist with no associated stress token.

I was ultra excited about G1A, purchased four, and ...not a good decision. Zuckuss is simply so good as a crewmember in Dengar's ship, that little interest in him as a pilot. And something is not working in the G1A. No canon, no bombs, no ordnance... With no Title...it is suboptimal.

My game group decided to autoinclude the title in every one selected. So at least she can barrel roll and is a TB carrier

Because 4LOM+Zuckuss crew is probably the best G1A, and the only one you want to run in a world where things with 8 HP and 1 AGI die in like a turn and a half.

Zuckuss is one of the heaviest hitters in the game for only 28 points.

Flown him casually. Even in a slim version ~ 30 points he is able to do the dirty work.

He is really good.

It is not true that there is no love for G1-A..There is just obviously too much love for jumpmasters

And also, B-wing > G1a. When you make a crappier version of something, there isn't a lot of excitement for it.

I think the ship looks cool.
