QLT and Slaved Turrets

By ianediger, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

My question is basically asked by the title, if a ship is equipped with slaved turrets and QLT, would the QLT counter count as the 1 attack for slaved turrets purposes?

No.

Awesome, thanks!

Its a shame that they've used the same Terminology "Attack" to describe certain things...

Slaved Turrets stops you from Declaring More than One Attack.

"Attack" at this point, is defined as "An Anti-Ship Attack from xx hull zone" or "Anti-Squadron Fire from xx hull zone".

So Slaved Turrets do let you Target every squadron in a Hull Zone arc as per Normal, and that counts as "One Attack"... But of course, we know that each squadron takes an attack that is Separate for Card Purposes...

Personally, I cure this in my head by stating that a Ship that Activates gets to make two Salvos .

A Salvo is thusly defined as declaring an Attack from your Hull Zone against a Ship... Or attacks against every Squadron in an Arc.

That way, a Ship with Slaved Turrets can only make one Salvo ...

... Demolisher can utilise a Salvo after moving...

That nonclementure is, of course, completely unofficial - but its how I sort out things in my head... And a Salvo still contains an attack , so cards that work while attacking still work correctly...

In this instance - Quad Laser Turrets make attacks , because they are counter-attacks, but they make no bearing on the single Salvo that you have been reduced to with Slaved Turrets...

Makes sense to me, at least.

That's a nice breakdown. I think FFG probably went with the single term "attack" because their rulesets are designed to be as sleek as possible, without getting bogged down in verbiage that sinks certain other games (I'm looking at YOU, 40k).

The issue of course, becomes that "Attack" now means 2 Different Things... And can be Restricted or Enhanced in one Place, but not the other :D

As it is, Slaved Turrets allowing you to attack multiple Squadrons, each attack being separate for card purposes, flies in the face of the Golden Rule... I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the fact it does, because if it was ultimately restricted , then you'd never see Slaved Turrets at all on anything ...

But a simple additional word change would make a world of difference :D
