Break off the attack! The shield is still up!

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Armada

So, with 1 shield flotillas on the way, lets swing to the other extreme.

There is reason for the shield numbers available.

What ship will come out that could possibly have 6 shields for its hull zones?

Or is it an upgrade card?

Could it be a ...... Death Star?

6 Shields would hardly do it justice now, would it?

It was supposed to be nigh impossible to defeat it with Capital ships, hence the desperation of the squadron-tactics used.

6 Shields are still dropped by a single firing of a Ship of the Line, if you go by MonCal and/or ISD....

I have to assume that 6 is future-proofing for future ships AND an upgrade that either improves shield values or allows pushing shields above their normal values under specific circumstances. To accommodate both of these I don't believe any ship would be above 5 shields in any given arc.

Death Star no way. It's supposed to be effectively invincible against capital ships and is on a scale that wouldn't fit on an Armada table. 6 shields would be an injustice.

Or an insult, depending on how you look upon it :P

Haha I was joking. Yes I agree. I don't think 6 shields even do justice to an SSD if they want to go epic. Would be awesome if they made a strongly shielded platform though.

I would think if they release an epic Super Star Destroyer, it would be like the X-Wing Raider where it has separate portions with different stats. So you might have... say two linked side arcs, each with 5 shields. Or some such.

I could see a shielded platform/base being a cool addition to the game but 6 shields on something like that feels very high when Imperial-class Star Destroyers top out at 4.

it was mentioned the death star would make an appearance in armada..... not sure how or if part of a campaign system.

Flames of war had off table naval bombardments that cost points but couldn't be killed. this also mean it was easier for you to be tabled.

i assume at some point an upgrade will let you shunt extra shields to a zone or a ship will simply come out with massive shields in an arc. prolly something from TFA era +

Source please? :)

we need a meme of that guy on history channel that says "aliens" with: "scale issues yo".
