Who is Jyn Erso?

By Tailsgod, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Beyond being similar to Jan Ors in name lets actually discuss who Jyn could be in universe

  1. There's a lot of people going around saying she's Reys mom (and as I am in the Luke is Father camp, I could see the kind farm boy falling for the more savy soldier, and it would make the biggs theory even more fun)
  2. She could just be the new cannon stand in for Jan Ors
  3. there's that phasma theory
  4. she could just be the person who steals the plans and thats it (the most likely one)
  5. She's actually an imperial spy (least likely)

those are just the theories I heard, what do you guys got?

edit:

The reason why I'm beginning to like J+L = R theory is because that could mean the rogue series could theoretically be the other side of the war where Rey's mother has been the entire time, and while it wouldn't be needed to know what Rey's mother has been up to it would be fairly awesome to see that Rey got the Jedi and the badass in her genes

Also that would mean BOTH of Rey's parents played pivotal roles in the destruction of Death Star 1

Also if that is Biggs it be pretty cool to see Lukes future wife and best friend talk

And as far as the whole Luke meeting her thing goes

Well that's why we have the books because we weren't gonna see Lukes love story on film anyway

Or if they really want an animated series where these two characters meet in

1) Yuch no, besides, Rey is a Solo. Hence her affinity with Chewie, the Falcon, the father remark Kylo made and the hug with Leia at the end.

2) canon, there's two n's in canon, not three.

3) whut?

I've not seen enough of the other characters, but they could just as easily be reimaginings of the heroes in Imperial Assault. Which would make it Jyn Odan.

There is no way Rey is a Solo

There is no way Rey is a Solo

Sure there is, kidnapped at a young age when the Falcon was stolen.

Do you think Han would have been so calm when he got the falcon back and not asked about his daughter?

Also the movie clearly shows her being left on the planet by somebody leaving in distinctly NOT the falcon

It makes more sense that she's Lukes daughter and Han took a liking to her because she reminded him of the nativity that one of his oldest friends had when he first met him

Well, he did ask who stole the Falcon and they did meet off-planet.

Nah, Lukes daughter would have to create a new and unknown love interest for Luke who then is offscreen immediately.

THIS THREAD

Well, twins run in the family so there is some merit to Rey being Solo's daughter. If she's Luke's daughter, we may yet see another little Solo pop up. Kylo's brother or sister?

I think too much weight is given to Leia's hug. I think Rey is Luke's daughter but that might be too obvious.

I hope she's just another citizen in this very large, yet incredibly incestuous galaxy.

I do like how Disney is portraying women in these SW films though. Competent, strong and believable characters that kick ass without relying on some fantastic magical kung fu fighting style we see in other female driven films such as Kill Bill, Resident Evil, Underworld, etc.

Rey may have very well arrived on Jakku in the Falcon.

And whoever brought her there, left her and the Falcon. And took off in something else.

So Han talks about how he's been looking for the falcon but never mentions his lost daughter?

Can we tangent back to Jyn now?
The goal of this thread was to discuss Jyn's place in the verse not Rey's (pleanty of other threads for her)

I kinda expect all or most of the team stealing the death star plans to die in the movie. I expect a heroic sacrifice movie. I have no evidence to back that up, it's just a feeling.

Rey's mother would be a nice tie in. As for the father it would be pretty cool if it were Kanan just for something a bit different.

A- If Rey is related to anyone, it should be to Obi-Wan.

B- I concur with rubberduck: Most of them are going to die. Maybe all. Night is darkest before the dawn of A New Hope and all that. And there are no public plans on making a Rogue trilogy and the likelihood of any more movies being made in a close enough time period to that of Rogue One and A New Hope for the actors in the movie to reprise their roles in some other stand-alone is pretty slim. Hell, it's probably a safe bet that virtually all the new characters in Rogue One , whether Imperial or Rebel, will be dead.

I hope there is no relations to the characters in Rogue One to any OT or TFA characters whatsoever. Can we get a universe with more than one **** family in it?

I'll chime in here. I agree with Rogue One being a sacrifice movie. It's about stealing the plans to the Death Star, which we already know "Many bothans died", but probably many others as well. I think Jyn is just what they are portraying her in the trailer. She's a strong independent rebellious type that has the skills they Rebellion is looking for. They have to know going in that stealing the plans is a suicide mission and the people they are sending need to be reliable, yet expendable. SO I see a lot of these characters being killed in this movie, which is fine, because it's a spin off about a single mission.

On the Rey discussion, I would really love to see a Rebels tie in. Maybe she is Ezra's daughter? Timeline and ages would be appropriate. People keep talking about being Obi Wan's kid, that would make her 60, AT LEAST. Luke's kid makes sense, but I don't think they are going to go that way, being it's too obvious. I think she will be from another force sensitive family.

That was DSII, R1 is about DSI

I think Vader probably interrogated any members of the team that survived, which is how he knew the plans were transmitted to the Tantive IV. I could be wrong but I'd be very surprised if at best more than one person actually lives to tell the tale.

Sorry you are correct, my bad.
