Hwk/Jumpmaster Heavy applied

By Rottenreason, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

If a Hwk/Jumpmaster applies heavy to say a named pilot and a escort ship both at range 1. Lets say heavy is applied to Dash and a Xwing
Can the Hwk/Jumpmaster or any other squadron ignore escort if they are in range of the squadrons or does escort still apply and if an attack is made it must still be made against the escort unit?

Heavy does not override Escort.

Heavy does mean you can move and shoot at Ships if you wish.... But if you choose to shoot at Squadrons anyway, it must be at an Escort Squadron in Engagement.

Intel only adds Heavy. Heavy doesn't mean you're not engaged, just that you can move and shoot at ships.

Intel/heavy also doesn't change the interaction with Escort. I.e. you must still shoot at the Escort (if you want to shoot at squadrons) if engaged by it.

If, however, you want to shoot at a ship, that's quite OK, as Escort doesn't matter and the enemy squads are Heavy.

Escort still applies.

Escort Squadrons you are engaged with cannot attack squadrons that lack escort unless performing a counter attack.

Heavy You do not prevent engaged squadrons from attacking ships or moving.

So, if you're engaged with a heavy escort, you can attack ships, but not other squadrons.
